Extended warranty cost

Featured Replies

This is a product underwritten by insurance. If you obtain it by false pretences or fail to comply with the conditions you could come unstuck.

Denis,

Do you know what the CSMA is?

And in any event the whole affair is probably entirely academic as the OP hasn't been back to the topic for a couple of days, in which time he might have sold his car and bought a Kia with 7 years warranty thrown in.

That's exactly 4 years more than Skoda currently offer.

No possible cause for uncertainty in the clauses and stipulations or small print there, I don't think.

From comments made on other Forums, Stan, I wouldn't be too sure about that!

I've certainly seen complaints by owners of Kia Sportages that have had warranty claims refused after the 4th year. The small print issaid to make interesting reading.

I'm no lover of the customer service people at the RAC building at Beston in Walsall where they administer the warranty and have had protracted dealings with them, however can't see anything here that's substantially worse than anyone else's. And seven years, even if it were only on the most major of components (which it isn't , as it happens),  is still a lot more than three.

The Kia 7 year warranty applies to all new Kia vehicles registered on or from 1st January 2010. For vehicles registered before the above date please click here

The warranty is a full 7 years from date of first registration OR to a maximum of 100,000 miles (whichever occurs first). For the first three years of the warranty, the mileage is unlimited.

Unfortunately Kia do not offer any products to extend the 7 year Kia warranty further.

Some items have a natural limited life/durability and are therefore covered for less than 7 years. These items include (but are not restricted to) consumable parts such as worn windscreen wiper blades, clutch linings, etc. The vehicle battery is warranted for a period of 2 years. The audio/ navigation system is warranted for 3 years/60,000 miles and vehicle paint is warranted for 5 years/100,000 miles.

For all other components, the total cost of parts and labour associated with any warranty claim are covered. For full details of our terms and exclusions please click here.

For fleets and company cars, the warranty coverage remains exactly the same. For a vehicle used as a taxi or private hire vehicle, the warranty period is limited to a maximum of 100,000 miles. Otherwise, coverage is the same.

The Kia 7 year warranty is fully transferable to any subsequent owner of the vehicle while still valid.

Kia vehicles are rigorously tested to ensure the highest possible standards of reliability and durability. In addition, due to our investment in the most technologically advanced production facilities and manufacturing techniques, we can ensure that all our vehicles meet our highest quality standards. This outstanding production quality is what gives us the confidence to offer a 7 year manufacturer’s warranty across the entire range of our vehicles.

The anti-perforation warranty on Kia vehicles are covered for at least 7 years/100,000* miles and some are covered for up to 12 years*. To find out the anti-perforation warranty cover applicable to your Kia please click here.

* A periodic bodywork inspection is required for which a charge may apply.

Every new Kia vehicle from the date of first registration comes with a complimentary 12 month KIAssist roadside assistance package as standard. To find out more to extend your KIAssist cover further please click here.

The Kia 7 year warranty is valid in all EEA (European Economic Area) countries.

All official Kia authorised dealers throughout the EU will be available to administer and undertake any necessary work under the terms of the warranty as long as you can provide your Warranty Information and Service Record booklet.

The 7 year warranty is valid for any new Kia from the date of first registration.

Now that's what I call small print!

Fred

But this is a period of austerity...times is 'ard.  One must cut back whenever possible :-)

By the time you've read the small print, the warranty has expired!

By the time you've read the small print, the warranty has expired!

  Yes, there is quite a lot of it, I agree - whether it's substantially more than all the others I doubt but I included it in response to a suggestion that the Kia warranty was thought to be more restrictive than others and contained major limits at four years - neither of which I can see evidence of - and neither has Graham as he hasn't returned to the topic to prove me wrong. And we all know he has a pedant's eye for detail ;) .

I've had to edit the post due to the absence of an apostrophe in pedant's (was pedants).  If you're going to miss an apostrophe off a word you don't want is missing from that particular word.
