Connector plug on top of gearbox?!

Featured Replies

Hey.

I noticed the other day I have a broken clip connector to the top of my gearbox and the wire is just dangling loose.

What is it for? My initial thought was it's the reverse light but that works perfectly fine?

Thank you.

Take a photo..

Will be easier to see exactly what wire you mean.

I will do next time i'm under the car mate! Not sure when that will be though.

Just not sure what else it could be? It won't be related to my power steering light coming on now and again surely?

Load signal cable?

That wouldn't be going to the gearbox would it? I thought that was alternator related.

By the way it is physically on top of the gearbox and it goes into the gearbox (The sensor)

You can just about see it in between the two gear linkages.

hmmm i dont know sorry dude =[ hopefully someone else can come along and tell ya

Is it a vrs, looks like it a vehicle speed sensor there , the vrs doesn't run one so at a guess it's had a golf gearbox fitted at some point

It's a seat ibiza mate :)

Any other ideas?

The speed sensor works perfectly in the car, shows mpg correctly and the rpm works as it should.

Is it the black plastic thing between the gear cables? Looks like a speed sensor, can't think what else it could be. Any idea what your gearbox code is?

Yep that's the one mate. Not sure. How would Ibe able to find out?

Cheers :)

Not sure on the Ibiza but on Skodas the gearbox code is on the sticker under the boot carpet and on a duplicate sticker in the service book.

Here is a pic of my sticker. FNK is my gearbox code...
