Colombus Freeze

Featured Replies

Has anyone had their Columbus freeze on them?

It's happened to me three times in three months of ownership. The second time it was on Media with a sdcard playing, the music stopped and the screen froze. I could switch between sources, but no sound on any of them.

The third time I was on the Nav screen with an sdcard playing, the Nav screen froze but the music kept playing. Both times holding in the power knob to reboot it solved the problem.

I also have issues with it taking a long time to start sometimes and it often displays the additional icons as if my finger is close to the screen, although it's nowhere near. Bringing my finger close to the screen clears it.

The dealer has upgraded the firmware to no effect, so I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything like this or if I have a dodgy unit.

No problems of that kind with mine. I would say you might just have a faulty unit.

My Admundsen dies too, but only ever happens when I have my phone connected to the USB and it low on battery charge. Takes a. Bit until the radio, or media, come alive again

Thanks for your responses. I've booked it into the dealer for another look.

Could it be the SD card, per chance?  Tried a different one (specifically a different size/manufacturer)?

Could be the SD Card, or even an error within the music file you are playing confusing the unit. How have the tracks been ripped from CD's.

My Navigation freezes every time I exit the M42 for the NEC and head to the car park - both on the way in to the NEC and the way out again. Completely repeatable on different days.

andyvee - that's interesting because my last lock up was coming off the M42 onto the A45. It got stuck whilst I was on the exit ramp. I hadn't thought about the sdcard, I'll switch to a USB for a while and see if that helps.
