Using either VCDS or an STS, is there any way to tell if an Octavia has been remapped? Not looking to remap, just to see if one has already been done.

From what I was told, you need to log boost and see what psi it is. Or something like that

Or have a look at the number of flashes the ECU has had, and if the map writer has added their name anywhere to the version fields etc. Not reliable as the flash counter can be bypassed, and some mappers leave the version/description field as stock for a 'stealth' remap.
