Hi all

 

I've re-introduced myself on that forum first - i first joined in 2007 when i bought a new Fabia vRS.

 

I'm a huge Saab fan and always will be but we have decided to order 2 new octavia's.  The first one because the 2nd car was destroyed last month when an 8 wheel tipper drove in to it and the second because we simply wanted to.

 

We've ordered and should recieve mid Arpril and mid mid May respectively -

We've driven a 150bhp TDi SE and loved it. Plenty of go, reasonably good fun, massive load bay and good sized interior and exceptionally well built and heaps of standard equipement too.

..........just a VERY long time to be waiting

Fingers crossed for a long and happy relationship!

 

Problem i guess (from reading here last couple of nights) is delivery unpredictability.  Should we be worried?  White one has always been BW 12 from the get go and red one was propped today.  I was offered a 'bog standard' Race Blue one instead on my red one - was i silly not to take it?

the silly waits are on the vrs, your elegances should be with you much quicker and with a more uniform wait.  10 ish weeks I think on those possibly, not quite sure.

All TDI estates have longer waiting times, the vRS is just the extreme, HB do seem to quicker but, you've avoided pano roof and ACC so, there shouldn't be too much issue. My own HB TSI Elegance has been 9 weeks order to collection and a week of that is this one, just waiting for the new plate.

Ha .. that's not a long wait, if mine was to come then I would be as happy as a pig in muck !

 

But seriously, as others have said, its normaly the vRS's that have the silly wait times.

As for the red/blue car, you added the options you wanted, unless any of them are going to cause long delays, stick to your guns IMO.

My TSI Elegance took 12 weeks from order to delivery including ACC.

 

As has been said the big wait times are for the VRS where demand has outstripped expected (previous) demand levels. 

I was warned by the dealer that waits for ALL Octavias are now increasing - demand is very strong at the moment. He estimated 12-16 weeks from date of order to build week is currently the norm. Allowing say 3 weeks for dellivery/PDI etc this gave a potential 15-19 week availability.

 

Nevertheless I ordered a Race Blue 1.4TSI DSG estate on 13 February. Only extra is the spare wheel.  Lo and behold provisional build week from the factory is week 20, so 13 weeks from order to build.

Thanks for the replies. Decided that I can wait for 1 specced up Octavia Elegance but not 2. Bought a new style Superb 170 Elegance instead and picking up this weekend then Candy Octy end of April :-)

I ordered my 2.0 TDi Elegance estate manual with just a spare wheel beginning of Dec and was delivered 14th Feb, 10 weeks or so all in all I reckon.

I think you'll be in for a wait though if you go daft with options as that in most cases is what causes the delays.

My elegance was ordered 29 December and arrived at the dealer yesterday. Like pipsyp the only option I selected was the spare wheel. Took less than nine weeks from order to delivery to the dealers
