servicing (& preventative maintenance questions)

Featured Replies

Hi all

the forums have been helpful to me so far, so thanks, and hopefully you will indulge these questions.

My vrs (08, petrol 2.0 tfsi, 73k) is due a service soon and I'm compiling a list of things to have checked.  I plan to have a remap done in the not too distant future and hope to keep the car for another few years so dont my spending a little now to protect my investment as it were.  Below is the list of things so far from reading the forums, please feel free to advise adding or removing items.

For the servicing....

standard service bits (oil & filter, air & pollen filters)
spark plugs (cant see any evidence of these being changed yet)
brake fluid (coming up to 2yrs since change)
aircon regas (between now and june)
cambelt & water pump already done

Preventative & Checks.....

cam follower check?
suction pipe change (precautionary change to prevent oil starvation)?
re-circulation valve check?
diverter valve check (or replacement)?
fuel filter (not seen anything specific on this, but changed a similar part on a similar mileage xsara vts to good effect a few years back)
coking check?  (& bg44k?)

quick standard service check of brakes

suspension check (quiet knocking on speedbumps from front)

thanks

I've a feeling the fuel filter gets done on a two year service (I'm on annual).

Spoke with local dealer today re my 2nd long life service due in 1500 miles, 2 weeks away

He said fuel filter is changed every 60k, and same for air filter, but pollen filter every 2 yrs

I will check the air filter and change it if needed and do pollen filter myself.

I've a feeling the fuel filter gets done on a two year service (I'm on annual).

On a diesel but not needed as frequently on the TFSI and TSI engines.
