Replace Gear Box Oil VRS - Skoda Request/Recall

Featured Replies

The VRS went in for its annual service today as planned (7,850km) I was informed Skoda had put a notice on my car/vehicle type for change of Gear Box Oil, anyone else had this done? I have to wait 2 weeks for the oil to arrive from europe, typical Middle East. Service went well by Qatar standards, made sure I observed the oil filling to 3.6l, got an extra ltr of oil in the boot for future consumption. Car also needed a software update but I didnt find out what the update contained.

There is not a recall on the DQ200 DSG on vRS in Europe (Yet), we are using our cars in a different climate and humidity, and they say no need to recall.

(that has changed and now some are being recalled but still not the vRS Fabias)

** Google DQ200 DSG recalls globally.**

Software updates were being done on vRS, and the car should be checked to see if required,

that is normal.

An example of what Skoda shows should happen when a car goes in, Plugged in an Enhancements done if required. (ECU Updates)

When was your car Built?  Do you know where it was built?

Probably the same build but destined for the Asian or Australian Market,

or is it a car built for Europe Imported to where you are.

Did you just go into a Dealership in Qatar & buy or order it?

They will see you right surely.

What sort of Ambient temps do you drive it in?

& out of interest, what tyres are fitted?

I imagine some Service Items must be different,

like the Air Filter being check and replaced.

Just have fun.

Purchased new from the Skoda Dealership in Qatar (only dealer), usual 3 year's years warranty etc.

Its running the standard dunflops, they scrabble for grip tbh even on the hot sticky roads (I plan to replace when they are shot with a different brand).

Temperature now 25 degrees (is perfect at the minute), pushing up to +50 by mid July.  Car oil temperature reads between 89-93 usually even in the hot weather.  However I have got it upto 103 in the peak of summer after a bit of 'fun' driving.

I wonder if they are any additional cooling precautions for such hot climates?

oooh! I was in malada boleslave (with a brisky meet) in 2012, and we saw them making vRS's, we could have actually seen your car being made! (sorry, thought it was cool :) )

:)

If I recall correctly, DSG's made up to 2011 were recalled in Oz to change the oil inside the gearbox. Apparently what was in there was causing some sort of short in the mechatronics, leaving one with no impetus... Supposedly it had something to do with being the wrong oil for hot climates. I'll try and dig up an article when I have more time.

keywords.

I hope the oil change stops the judder I have on starting the car in the morning or when cold.

The ECU update should have done that hopefully.

Thanks for the links sk4gw and OzFabia

Unfortunately the ECU update I got yesterday did not sort the judder as it was apparent this morning.

You will just have to trust in Skoda then.

I hate to mention incase i get shot down but Hey Hoe here i go.

Maybe Get them to inspect all 4 spark plugs.

& just replace them since they are out.

Then finally if Skoda Fail once the Oil change,

maybe look to Australia for a fix.

Ok when it goes in for the oil change I will ask them to look at the spark plugs, I very much doubt they will tho.  In this country your car has to cease working before they acknowledge a problem.

If they do take out the spark plugs what should I look for?, any obvious signs that they are shot (sorry my techincal ability is sub standard and I dont really trust the garage).

They may be perfect,

but they are inspecting for tracking on the plug, which they understand,

& any other serious defect, in one plug in particular.

They need to remove and check all 4, not the easiest 2 only.

Sorry if it is a waste of money, your car is very low mileage and they should be perfect.

(i think it is worth the piece of mind though)

but you will know they are right if you can trust them doing it.

& then you have new plugs in anyway.
