Why didn't I get a spare tyre!?!

Featured Replies

Arrgh just got a massive puncture today that's killed a tyre.

The rac are gonna take me home but as the tyre size on the serpens is strange I can't get another one till Wednesday.

At least while I've been stranded I've bought a spare.

Too late for you now I suppose but it was cheaper to spec one when ordering from new, was my first addition before anything else.

Do the RAC recover with or without a spare at no extra? some apply a surcharge without a spare.

Yeah happened to me after a week of ownership. No spare :(

Glad I bought one now though. Luckily the Conti tyre was repairable.

Mine is wrecked. I wanted to buy the same tyre that I have on the car but its difficult to find oneone. So I'm gonna have to hgave an odd tyre :(

When I was thinking of ordering a new Sport I wanted to add the Serpens then I looked up the prices of the 185/50-16 tyre ;) there's not a load to choose from and fairly expensive! They do look good though :) Happy with my 15's for now ;)

I don't like the idea of not carrying a spare, hence my steel spare and jack kit arrived today :D

Anyone know what speed rating is correct for the 14" wheel? I know I need a 165/70-14, I'm guessing S or T ??

If you are using a 14" steel spare on a car with alloys, you are not supposed to exceed 50 mph, as the rolling radius of the spare will not exactly match that of the other wheels. So in effect the speed rating of the spare is irrelevant.

If the Spare tyre size is the same as the one's on the road the rolling radius will be the same

The Wife's Spare in her CitiGo is the same size as the ones on the road.  The Steel wheel is the same size and ET of the Alloys

It's a full size 14" wheel not a skinny space saver. 165/70-14 is almost identical to 185/55-15

Same here I bought a full size so no restriction on speed.
