My son's Fabia (00 reg 1.4 mpi) has had its power steering light on for the last 4 months even though the

power steering works perfectly. It went for its test last week and failed on the power steering even though the tester admitted

the steering was working. Local garage put it on the diagnostics and said it was showing up as faulty alternator.

Replaced the alternator today - light still on.

I have also replaced the angle sensor and the car has a new battery. I've read most  of the posts relating to this problem

and I have also replaced the dfm wire connector at the starter. Does the code have to be cleared properly? I do have the VCDS lite

but it seems to be very limited.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I don't think the warning light will go out unless you clear the fault codes.

Also, have you checked the fluid level?
