How do I make my car look less, erm, ugly...

Featured Replies

My car looks like this...

Now clearly it's never going to be super-slick/attractive.

But has anyone any low cost ideas for making it cooler?

One friend suggested respraying it, another suggested crushing it - neither is an option...

I suspect I'll do nothing, or maybe buy some alloys but any subtle ways of changing it to be cooler would be welcome!

Smoked rear glass...? Colour code the wing mirrors? VRS bumpers?

Wheels will be a good start tho

Thanks for quick response!

Ah, actually my mirrors are colour coded (this isn't a picture of my actual car)! So I'm half way there.

OK cool so: Smoked rear glass / Wheels / VRS Bumpers

Ideally I'd like to do things that I can remove e.g. wheels - to return it to standard without investing too much in the car; after all it's a 12 yo boggo Fabia I - and one day I'd like to get a VRS - so anything that I can take with me to the VRS is cool, but other than that I want to tie up minimal cash.

Colour code chrome grille section? quick, easy and cheap!

Front GT bumper lip? Could be hard to find and possibly expensive, but it should be cheaper than decent condition vrs front bumper. plus you you can retain the original bumper!

Colour code door handles... I think things all colour coded stuff makes a massive difference to how 'cool' a car looks.

Nothing worse that graying handles and black trim!

Don't hold back  :giggle:

GT/ Sport bumer spoiler > vRS bumper with the VAT and shipping. None in stock in the UK. I've got one though :)

Plastidip spray it, cheaper than a normal respiratory and can peel off, or wrap it. I just sold my gt bumper, think it was one of the last brand new ones in the uk.

Personally I'd keep the colour as it is, not too many knocking around in that colour, Fantasia Green IIRC.

set of alloy wheels and 30mm lowering springs would work on it. :)  Maybe a little extra width using a set of 15mm hubcentric spacers and longer bolts.

Tinted back windows, small roof aerial (sharkfin?), colour code wingmirror cases,

Sell it Boss Fox to add to his collection of Skoda's  :bandit:

Wow. Loving the ideas. I've got colour coded handles and mirror casings already. This photo is of a similarly ugly car; not mine. I think the colour is called Atol Green.

I did notice it was green. :)

I'm too ashamed. Lol. Nah its exactly the same bar colour coded mirrors and door handles. Oh. And fogs. Link is here! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=121267809361

It can't be worse than mine...

Did you buy that actual car on ebay then?

It looks a different colour to the one in post no.1 above.

I think it's the light, Richard. By God yours needs a polish :D

Pretty sure it's Fantasia Green though. Not aware of an Atol Green.

Anyone can buy a sensible colour!

Glad you didn't buy a Petrol Green one then, that would be irony :D

When I put the code from the book into Google, Google said Atol Green. And everyone knows Google knows everything. Anyway. Yes your minty one is special. Nearly as masculine as mine. I'm loving the discussion. And to the chap who asked yes I did buy that actual car off eBay. And have been fixing lots of niggly things since.

what did the paint code on the sticker in the handbook or under the boot carpet say? (number letter number letter)

5281.

If you do a Google image search for Fantasia green it's much more a lime colour - if you Google Atol Green you get this same turquoise colour (mostly from breakers yards!)

That was me.

Shame as the advert had all the traditional signs of a well looked after car.

But you bought it and the price wasn't that cheap either, so you must have liked it.  Glad I'm not the only odd one. :D

Never heard of Atol Green, that must make it rarer than Sprint Yellow.

Leather interior? Might be a bit over budget, but at least you can sell them on/put them in a vrs if you got one
