Car won't start

Featured Replies

Hi all having a mare, took my car to HiQ to diagnose if it was a dodgy handbrake cable or something else left my car with them for 3 hours to be told it needed a new caliper this is fine get on with it...... Drove the car home literally 60-100yrds parked it up come out with my 2 day old daughter to go get supplies and the car won't start all lights come on the dash but won't fire up at all

Went over to HiQ spoke to the guy and he said it wouldn't start on him he had to faff about with it (rubbish never had any problems before) and if so

Why didn't he mention it when I ordered a new caliper and booked in for MOT for

Tuesday? He then said he can't come over as there shutting soon (40mins time) and said it's just a coincidence but when I went over bonnet was open and I had to close it to drive away

Am I right to be peeved and also any ideas what it could be desperately need the car running

Thanks matt

Do any of the staff there happen to drive any 1.8t from the vag range? Could be anything from the polo to a TT. If so then I would suspect they had the bonnet up for a reason.

Does the engine crank when you turn the key? Or do you just get lights on the dash?

i think one has a mk4 golf gti t and all lights come on turn the key and nothing had someone look at it and they think its the starter  motor which is annoying since never had a problem up til that point

Get someone to have a look and see if there are signs of work around the starter, not much you can do to prove it though. MAY be a coincidence but I am more cynical than that having suffered a similar problem with my wife's Passat in the past.
