A re-introduction.

Featured Replies

I'm back :)

Not had a Skoda in the family since about 2006 when I sold my Octavia GLX petrol but just rejoined the fold :)

I just picked a 52 plate Octavia Elegance estate in Cayenne Orange which plan to run on a veg oil and unleaded blend :)

I'm bound to have some questions soon as it is the first VAG diesel I've owned but spent the last couple of years running a Daewoo Musso on 90% veg 10% unleaded or just veg in the summer :)

Welcome back. :)

Hello MBT  :hi:

I'm liking the look of cayenne orange - may we see it in the tin?

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome again :)

Not sure if I will be able to get to any meets as at the moment. Self employment is a demanding bitch :) I seem to be working more hours a month than ever and over the Sundays of a month I'm doing around a 1000 miles a month.

We are planning to try and work smarter and get some down time :)

Hello again

Not sure if I will be able to get to any meets as at the moment.

What......you mean actually go out somewhere and meet real people, .......... with real cars??  :o

I wouldn't go that far.  A couple of pics would be plenty - it's just an unusual colour, so would be interesting to see.

Ah photos can be arranged :)

Right now I'm just coming to terms with a high miler with what appear to be niggles :(

1. A whump whump sound that appears to be coming from the front increases with road speed but not revs and is worse straight ahead or turning right. I'm guessing passenger front wheel bearing is going. Brakes don't seem to be affected at all so unlikley to be a a warped disc and no vibration through the pedals or wheel so I don't think it is a tyre or wheel balance.

2. Discovered today an oil leak. Enough to leave a 4ish inch wet spot. I've had the car a week so I need to count the spots and see if it was there when I bought the car or it has started since. I've done about 900 miles since I bought it and the level warning light hasn't shown so will check the oil tomorrow and top up if needed. I did feel the undertray "skeef" on a speed bump and just hope I didn't crack the sump.

3. CD changer and rear washer not working. Inside the rear well is wet. I hope fixing the rear washer is easy and the cd changer is just a fuse caused by the water.

Well, this has to be one of the shortest re-introduction threads ever.

It is dead, and is probably going to be scrapped. I got to drive it roughly 3 weeks out of two months.

Original turbo blew, garage cleaned it out, I arranged a recon turbo, drove it for two weeks and the second turbo physically snapped in  half at the bearing cassette smashing the impeller wheel and most of the bits haven't been recovered. Nothing in the intercooler so may have made their way up to the head and waiting to eat valves as soon as it makes boost. I can't afford a head rebuild, and I can't afford a used engine with a turbo that may or may not be any better than the original one, so it looks like it will be scrapped to pay the garage what I owe them for removing the wrecked recon one for sending back.

Now I have no car, paying a fortune in  bus fairs to get anywhere. Anyone a 2002 52 plate TDI estate with a knacked engine and missing turbo, the rest is shabby but solid.
