Cluster and immobiliser no power after retrofitting remote locking

Featured Replies

Briskodians,

Thank you all for all of your knowledge shared in the forum, excellent resource.

I have searched for coverage of this problem but not found a clear answer so here goes

Mark 2 Octavia, basic spec, no remote locking.

Retrofitted remote locking following some of the excellent resources on the forums here

A couple of days later fitted aux input successfully.

Drove around normally for a day or so following these

Then this morning tried starting her up, found it was starting but cutting out after seconds. Also noted no power to dash cluster. (no lights at all, even indicators when hazard lights switched on) Other electrics including fan working ok. Problem similar to some in these forums.

not a fuse problem ie all fuses on main board and the one next to the battery text ok and have tried reseating them.

Tried removing dash cluster but finding it very difficult and have cracked some of the plastic already. Not persisting cos looks like theres not much I would be able to do other than check the connections

Not it has been freezing and wet here for a few nights here, some forum entries suggest this might cause electrical problems. For now I have tried unplugging the battery and will try again when its been warmer for a couple of days (Probably next august for two days..)

Would any of you have an idea of where to go to next?

Will probably be a tow to the local garage but unfortunately not many around here claimto have knowledge of skoda and / or electronics problems! (Coleraine, N. Ireland)

Thanks in advance

Fitting remote locking shouldn't have anything to do with the immobiliser fault

if you have vcds get a scan
