18" wheels on a mk2?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone on here has put 18's on the mk2's? Hopefully with no problems.

The ones I'm looking are 18" with a width of 8" and an ET 57.

The tyres would be about 215/35/18 or 220/40/18.

Any help or advice would be greatly accepted!

A search will find other posts on the same subject.

Cheers mate :) what size are your new ones?

17x8 et32 and et37

think 220/40/18 would be far too big a step un in diameter causing your speedo to under read 6%

ET 57 also seems a bit out, standard wheels are ET41 IIRC, depending on design this could give problems (inner rim near 30mm closer to the suspension strut and only 3mm less poke so hard to correct with spacers unless you roll your arches)

Yeah thanks for the advice :)! I've had a think and done a few sums and I think I'm better sticking to 17's

The speedo over over reads by about 5mph anyway.

The speedo over over reads by about 5mph anyway.

as it should do!

Because under reading at all is against the law!

205 or 215/35/18 would not be too different in rolling radius but,as you say,to stick to 17's is better.
