Front grill options?

Featured Replies

Ok so finally got the GFs Fabia sorted out a bit.  Rear door leaks fixed, and various other small problems dealt with.

Next it's onto the fron grill surround (the bit that's normally chrome).

The one that came on it had the recess filled and painted and the badge removed.

I reckon it looked a bit blank so got my hands on another chrome surround and got a new front badge.

So here's my options.

Paint it black to match the car (can't really be bothered as it'll be a paint to get exactly right).

Wrap it in 3M dinoc carbon effect vinyl.

Leave it chrome as it'll match the xenon headlights anyway.

Anyone got anything done similar I can compare it to?

Loads of people have done black majic (the colour code of the car) and plasti dip matt black + gloss black.. + carbon wrap etc..

i would go with gloss black plasti dip because if u dont like it or want it to look standard when you sell you can just peel it off ;)

I couldn't make my mind up either, so bought a second grill with original badge, chrome etc to go with my black magic grill and now searching for a second set of fog surrounds so I have one black magic and one diamond silver

Don't paint it with normal car paint!

I've learnt the hard way. I spent ages getting a pretty much perfect finish on it, to have a MASSIVE stone chip within the first week of having it on. I now have about another 4 chips on it a few months later. Pretty bloody annoying to be honest...

I'm going to get another grille at some point and just have it wrapped gloss black professionally.

It looks much better in matte black instead of gloss imo. Put the new style badges on too

Decat it....

Here's a crap-quality picture of mine in 3D carbon wrap, I think it's quite subtle.

Well, I made a decision last night at around half 10 and got out a roll of 3M Dinoc (I had about 6ft x 4ft of it).  I reckon this is my best option at the minute.  No need for colour matching or messing about with paint.  I can just peel it off if it's wrong as well.  I'll finish it off this evening.

Can you give me a link to the wrap you used please or something similar ?

I bought mine off eBay around 2 years ago but if you do a search on eBay for 'carbon fibre wrap' you'll get thousands come up, just make sure it's not from China

Mine is 3M Di Noc.  It's the only decent quality wrap I've ever used. You can get it in loads of places including ebay.

Cheers guys,will have a look
