Advice for South East Newbie

Featured Replies

Hello All

As a newbie to the forum, but a long time reader,I need to ask for the following advice from fellow members in the south east (Sussex/Surrey area).

I became the proud owner of a VRS July last year, she's got a few battle scars and highish mileage, but it was luv at first site LOL.I arranged a service with my trusted indi garage, and they completed a full service for £232.

Now having read many a thread on the forum,I feel that maybe this is a tad too much, admittedly they do use all genuine Skoda parts,as have read horror stories on many after market ones.

I would like to ask,can anyone recommend a local(ish) indie who could service and has VCDS also that they would recommend.

Apologies for the long thread....I hope someone can help/advise...

Never used them and i've no idea how much they charge but you could look at these:

Jkm get my vote, but why not take it to a Skoda dealer?

Preston motors in London are very good and not too expensive.

Can recommend a local Indy in Tunbridge Wells but may be too far?

Hello Guys

Thanks to Lee 01,vRS19TD and Adlav for the replies.

Am a little dubious about taking it to any of the relative local Skoda dealers near me,as have read the relevant threads in the Dealers post page and it dont make me that confident to go to any of them  .

I think i will possibly try maybe one of those recommended as above.I will keep you all posted..watch this spaceLOL.

Haven't used them and weren't much much cheaper than Main dealer but GMS in Maidstone (Kent) seemed very knowledgeable.

The guy who did my bushes for quarter of skoda main dealer was from check a trade website so may be worth a look on there. Not many mechanics on there. But I only needed one good one!

Hello vRS1.9TD

I'm based in between Brighton and Eastbourne,so most areas in Sussex/Surrey are within reach.

Have read quite a few threads over time and feel that there must be some decent/fair priced indies close by who know there Skoda/VW stuff.I will be looking at a DMF replacement very soon, and son't want to pay over a grand,as have been quoted by my local indy, who will only use Skoda/VW parts, and won't fit others as says they don't always fit and cause lots of grief??

Thanks to all the replies so far,I'm sure I can find the right place.

Cheers
