Double Din Cage Fitment.

Featured Replies

I have searched and searched and searched but need some specific help!

Currently trying to fit a double din unit into my fabia vrs.

My issue is fitting the cage for the unit that came supplied.

Its tight and I mean TIGHT. ive managed to get it in half way but it wont go any further.

Is there a smaller cage or do I just need to keep forcing it??

Thanks!

I fitted a single din cage last night to mine and it is stupidly tight but I guess once its in it doesn't need to come out again.

Brute force worked for me and my stereo no longer moves around.

I've found all cages I've fitted to Fabias tight width wise, again brute force done the trick

any tips for me ? or just force it?

Force it I used a hammer put put the wooden end of the handle on the cage and just pushed by hand you have to do a bit on each side as you go

Another vote for brute force :D

When I installed my double din cage it took chunks out of the plastic, but swallowed the fear and forced it in

Yup mines was very tight aswell. But always seems to wiggle loose and have to push it in. Ive learned to live with it :o

Lube.

Agreed, brute force I am afraid, the only way.

Be careful that you don't push it too much on one side without changing sides and pushing it a bit from the opposite side as well, otherwise it will start to twist.

I found a couple of pieces of wood, say 1/2" square and a few inches long (comfortable to hold) resting on the cage edge either side and with both hands push with equal force, it will go in,just seems very brutal I know.

Pushed mine in one side about 1mm then used a bit of force the other side until I got it in. Keep switching sides!

Thanks for all the replys.

Guess I need to just man up, eat some spinach and force it in!!

I made a slit across the bottom corner with a Stanley knife, still had to use brute force though.

I also cut out all the plastic at the back, made it much easier to get all the cables in!

Took a knife to mine. Nd a file nd wrked in end

It catches on the left side usually.

I used a rubber mallet and a metal ruler on the left to stop it catching.
