Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a better-value place to get a set of alloy wheels complete with tyres than this?

A set of four presentable-looking alloy rims with good-quality tyres for £400 delivered, from MyTyres.  Looks a good bargain to me - wheels-with-tyres for the same money or less than Skoda would charge just for wheels.

I am talking about wheels and tyres for a 2.0 litre 4x4 diesel estate (not a Scout) which I regard as a practical, reliable, comfortable, economical workhorse, so I am looking for tyre which offer good wet grip & braking, low fuel consumption, silence and comfort, not ultimate dry-road grip or sporting handling.  I've got a sports car for when I want to enjoy that!

Has anyone bought such wheels (Dotz Imola, silver) and if so, are they pleased with them?

Has anyone bought any other similar tyres-plus-alloy-rims package from MyTyres?

(By the way, for the same money you could have Enzo H, or, for progessively slightly more money in each case, you could have Denzent RE ECE, Enzo B or Enzo G wheels - all plain. elegant-looking and easy-to-clean wheels which I prefer and which I think would look natural on an Octavia estate.)

You aren't going to better £400 for a set of brand new alloys and good quality tyres.

Personally I'm not a fan of aftermarket alloys, I'd prefer genuine Skoda rims every time.

The 4x4 is 16" right?

A nice set of 15's here...

Or 16's...

Thanks for this.

Yeah, I'd prefer Skoda wheels (they are 15" on my car - and I prefer small diameter rims with comfortable, low-cost, high-profile tyres) which is why I find the wheels which I mentioned attractive - they look much like Skoda ones.

However both these sets are more expensive than the new ones I mentioned, and they are slightly marked second-hand ones.  In addition, I'd have to pay to get any new tyres fitted.

Both my existing 15" Skoda wheels and all the alternative wheels I listed earlier have the heads of the wheel bolts exposed, which therefore really need to be covered by individual plastic caps - fiddly.

Many Skoda wheels have a removable one-piece central cap which covers all the bolt heads - much more convenient, and easier to keep clean.  Does anyone know if there are any suitable 15" Skoda wheels which are like this?  Or any suitable third-party 15" wheels which have such a one-piece central cap, please?

It seems quite common on VW or Audi wheels, which are a direct fit.

I have 5 l&k 16s with new tyres....

Be careful with aftermarket alloys as some of the cheaper ones can be a pain to get balanced.

Mate at work has 330ci with CSL replica rims - cost circa £1000, and we all take the p*ss out of him as has the equivalent weight of a bag of sugar in stick on weights on them to balance them.

Some cheaper alloys or replica alloys can have this issue due to cheap manufacturing processes crappy tolerances.
