Hi Al, interesting stuff on the fitting of the ITG, what was your MPG before and after adjusting the fitting?

Did you take any pics of the fitting?

If the air flow sensor is being covered or restricted this may lead to power loss too.

    I don't know if I'm the only one; but when I leave my car and I'm walking away from it, I always look round and give it a quick glance before heading in the house/walking off. Today I looked round and

  • It's been a while since I've updated this! Well not much has changed with the my Furby apart from replacing the wheel bolt covers to blue ones... Nobody needs to see that. On Friday I met up with Spa

  • Sorry Ally, I know this is your thread, but Martyn I think you will be over the moon when you switch out the springs and dampers, genuinely startling the difference this makes to the car.   I reall

Hey Sparkly, before fitting the ITG I used to get 47-49 MPG on my steady 28 mile commute to work. I don't boot it as there is no point due to the traffic. After fitting the ITG I was getting 42-44 and struggling to get that!! I didn't notice any drop in power (placebo affect May have been masking it)

I wish I had taken pictures. I will tonight weather dependant. Basically there is a plastic lug in the air flow sensor, this had come further out of the rubber tubing when I removed it from the stock air box. Unbeknown to me I fitted it into the ITG and tightened up the jubilee clip on the part of the rubber tubing that did not have the plastic lug in to hold it open.

I have pushed the plastic lug back in to the rubber tubing therefore now when I tighten up the jubilee clip it is over the plastic lug making sure the airflow is not restricted. This morning I easily got my 47MPG. Will be interesting to see if I have more power.

Stupid question but is the air flow sensor the bit that come out of the piping for air box and then pushes into the hole of silicone pipe? Didnt get a jubilee clip with mine for that bit?? Just where it attaches to engine.

Yeah I believe it is! The older kits don't seem to have them.

Please see the stolen photo above. The plastic lug that is in the standard air box is in my airflow sensor that is held in the chaps hand. My ITG has a jubilee clip in the silicon piping. I've seen others that don't??

Yeah on mine it just slots in to the hole in silicone pipe. Going to refit mine tomorrow probably so will take a pic and add it on here, aswell as adding it to the pile ready for when I eventually get round to making a build thread. Ie; when I get round to buying a laptop. I bought my itg in november..

As us Fabia owners know, the interiors on our cars are a little on the dreary side.... I am trying to find subtle ways of lifting the interior slightly.

I picked up a VRS grille badge off eBay for pretty cheap.byru7usu.jpg

And using some sticky back foam I stuck it to the top glovebox. I think it looks ok and is just a subtle touch to make the interior a slightly more interesting place to be.

Will see how long it sticks on for.....

I think that might be a Marmite modification there Al.

I'm not sold, sorry buddy.

Very valid opinion mate! Certain angles I like it, others I don't. I'm going to roll with it for a little longer before making my decision on whether it stays or not. Just looking for ways to brighten the interior without going OTT.

In other news my MPG has been consistently what it was before fitting the ITG. Therefore confirming I had made a bit of an error when first installing it!

You could spray the stereo head unit surround and air vent surrounds

Personally I like the interior of my car, few simple tweaks like the interior LED's, a good detail and spritz of Chemical Guys stripper scent and it's a nice place to be.

Have you thought about some custom mats? Subtle enough but a good way to add colour if you fancy?

32kofdata and Confide have done some nice interior tweaks

You are right, the interior is not a bad place to be, It's always clean and smells fresh (no one eats in my car - punishment by walking) I just want to make a few subtle tweaks to make it personal. I like the idea of the vents, colouring or wrapping in Carbon. Already go custom mats that could maybe do with changing as they starting to look a little aged!

Thanks for all the food of thought! :-D

Oh and how could I forget;

Decided to debadge the 'Fabia' from the tailgate. Followed the great advice I found on here. Cracked out the masking tap, old Nectar card and the Tar remover. Really happy with the results, much cleaner.unaguvu9.jpg

Oh does it? Didn't think of that. I just pee'd off the neighbours and my misses by using her hair dryer haha!

Fishing line and a hair dryer works well too :)

A few small updates over the Easter weekend;

After the disappointment with the TMC box :wall:  I was keen to fit some other parts to make up for it! Parts I had waiting to go on;

- Metal VRS footplate

- Rear mud flaps

- Philips Diamond Vision H7 Bulbs

First up was the footplate, I really enjoyed fitting this. Being a self confessed Muppet when it comes to any form of DIY I was a little nervous at the concept of removing parts, drilling holes in them and then re-fitting. Luckily I found and used a very handy guide on here. (The search function is great, cant understand why more members don't use it.  :giggle:   )

First step was to remove the plastic foot rest.

Then I cracked out the tools. First offering up the metal footrest to the plastic one, using a drill bit to mark the plastic where to drill the holes. Turned out to be quite simple.

Really happy with the results. Really lifts the interior, another little mod that adds to the bigger picture. :sun:

The custom floor mats are looking a little tired after a year so may look to replace them soon. The mud flaps were on next, they were easy to fit and didn't even need to remove the wheels - result! I will get a picture up later. The bulbs were an absolute pig! :@  It took me and my girlfriend 1.5 hours to change both, She did most of it because my hands are too big. I will get picture's up soon :blush:

Interested to hear what you think about your H7 Diamond Bulbs as I have these fitted and although they look great the visibility isn't great and IMO very poor hence why I'm considering fitting the 35w 6000k HID Kit...

To be honest, I'm also wondering what my thoughts will be haha! I've not been out at night driving but I did turn them on after fitting and the beam pattern didn't seem any worse and they looked nice and bright with no yellow at all. Look so much better with the DRL's. Will get pictures up tonight.

My first impression as well when I fitted mine...;) It might be my headlights not being levelled properly. I do agree that these look awesome and arch the White/Blue side lights I have fitted with LED bulbs...

Really like your car. The colour and all mods you have done so far and have planned are the right ones...!

  • Author

Cheers mate! :-) I hope so, I have a few more mods planned that I will reveal soon, I am saying it will stop there. But we all know it never stops!!!

Loving your motor :-) Really enjoyed reading your build thread at the start of the year.

Thanks Mate...! Keep up with the good work. I'll have a big update in my thread by the end of May...! Plenty of things will be fitted...;)

Look forward to the updates!! :sun:

Pictures of the rear mud flaps fitted, I think they really make the rear of the car look a little wider, really happy with the result.
