Just took some pictures of some of the bulb changes I've made. Found a spare LED number plate bulb so fitted it into the interior light, simple but looks great.

I've changed the headlight bulbs to Philips Diamond vision. They look great, bright white with a slight blueness. Compliment the DRL's rather than clash like my old orange Orsams. It's a good job I'm happy with the result as they were a nightmare to fit! The beam pattern doesn't seem to be reduced too much. I actually think the headlights are not too bad!

I don't know if I'm the only one; but when I leave my car and I'm walking away from it, I always look round and give it a quick glance before heading in the house/walking off. Today I looked round and

  • It's been a while since I've updated this! Well not much has changed with the my Furby apart from replacing the wheel bolt covers to blue ones... Nobody needs to see that. On Friday I met up with Spa

  • Sorry Ally, I know this is your thread, but Martyn I think you will be over the moon when you switch out the springs and dampers, genuinely startling the difference this makes to the car.   I reall

Well, reading that I think my headlights need levelling then before I commit to buying some HID kit I was originally thinking about as it might not be the actual bulbs that reduce the visibility...

Such small things but make huge difference to the car.

Spent the drive home thinking about future plans for the VRS. She is booked in on Thursday for her exhaust work, I cannot wait to hear the difference and I know its childish but I'm excited to have the DSG 'fart' noise on upshifts. I suspect I will be paying a visit to some long tunnels..... :giggle:

One thing has been bothering me about the look of my car; its just too damn narrow! Springs, wind deflectors and mud flaps have helped but I really think I need to space the wheels out. I am trying to decide what size to go for, I am pretty much set on 15mm for the front, but the rear I think needs 20mm as the estate does seem to have its wheels tucked in more than the hatch.

I am also awaiting Superskoda to deliver some parts that should make this estate stand out a little more. Nothing drastic, I promise!

The car rejected the VRS badge that I stuck on the upper glove box... (Glad of it) it did look out of place! Not to be defeated I got one of these little metal VRS logos from Superskoda. Looks better and almost OEM!

Happy with the results. :-) I am currently sat waiting for the rain to go away so I can fit these lovely parts.

Mega happy with the results!!! :-)

This is looking really good. I love it...! Shame they don't make these for pre facelift Fabias...:(

I wasnt sure about taking my silencer out. Only cost me £20 so I thought sod it. Its sounds much better imo. Not to everyones taste obviously but I think it sounds like it should. No massive difference in general pottering about. Just at nearly 4000 it kind of barks. I love it haha. The itg works well with it too. Looking good mate. I decided against the black grill surround (mines chrome too) cant decide now if it clashes with the headlights too much. Saves me a photshop request though thankyou :)

How hard were they to take off/put on

£20!? Wow yeah that's a good price! Getting mine done tomorrow for £60! Bartering needed... ;-) I'm looking forward to hearing the results, thanks for the mini write up. :-) looking forward to hearing it even more! Cheers mate, I'm really liking the effect it has on the front end, makes it look a little meaner? I know what you mean about the headlights, having an estate it sort of balances out because I have the black roof rails. I reckon it would still look great on a race blue hatch though. The top part was easy, and took 5 minutes. The bottom half was a pig, I got frustrated and just broke the chrome surround into 1,000,000 pieces!

Cheers Slotty :-) shame they don't do the colour of your car in FL models!

Haha...That's a good one...! My car is unique...

Really good thread going here Ally, keep it up.

The black grill surround is a winner, very nice.

Take care going 20mm spacers at the rear, my 17mm's are right on the hairy edge of rubbing and have to date now touched arch a couple of times when hitting a big dip in the road at max chat.

  • Author

Cheers Mark :-) really pleased with the grill surround, I quite like the contrast between the headlights.

Ahhh really? That's put a spanner in the works, I am fairly convinced that the estate has it's rear wheels set in more due to the extended rear end. I need to find a willing hatch owner to compare to!

I've got some time yet as I am waiting for SUK to get my replacement Gigaro's in under Warranty. Dam corrosion has set in bad :-( once they are swapped the spacers are getting ordered.

3mm difference visually will mean nothing.

but it might just be enough to stop the tyres rubbing.

You are totally right. 15mm / 17mm FK spacers next.

where was this done at for £20?

Just back from having my centre silencer removed. Soon as the key was turned the difference was noticeable. A lot more throatier on idle. When you give it some it sounds amazing. On the motorway at 2800rpm on 1 third throttle the sound in the cabin is lovely!

Quick phone clip of the car on idle.

sounds very good

where was this done at for £20?

By a friend in Blackpool.

From a standstill, give her about half-throttle, then back-off as you are approaching, say, 50-60kph. Result, nice little crack and DSG fart.

^^^^ I like this very much! No idea why I waited so long to have this done. It makes the VRS sound like it should have from new. At motorway speeds there is a very faint noise from the exhaust. Not loud but enough to remind that you are in a 'sporty' car. The ITG induction noise is even louder now, I'm going to crack the GoPro camera out this weekend and get some driving videos. Very happy indeed.

I was greeted with a scary sight today when I lifted the bonnet;

ypa9a7u7.jpg

My heart nearly stopped!!!

I do not understand how it could have fallen off? Or even scarier; how long have I been driving around without it on? The car got it's first MOT at Skoda on Friday so surely it was on then? Maybe putting a little too much faith in Skoda techs...

Little bit of damage to the ITG to make matters worse.

sy9u6ugy.jpg

Bolted it back on making sure the jubilee clips were nice and tight. Took her for a spin and everything seemed ok. I did notice the induction noise was extra loud today driving to the shops. So I hope it was just today that it was off. I didn't do many miles and I did not drive hard at all.

I am a little worried about having driven the car without a filter? Could I have caused to the chargers??

It's highly likely you would have noticed this, both from a noise and performance point of view. As you say, you noticed it was louder.

So I'd say it had only just dislodged itself. No harm done I'd say; if the car's not getting enough air you'll know about it - both with difficulty in actually moving anywhere, a likely Check Engine Light and a load of noise!

Also, whereabouts in Cheshire are you? I'll keep a lookout :)

  • Author

Thanks for the reassurance! I'm more gutted that the ITG has scrapes on it :-( only 2 months old! Engine is normal as ever so I will just learn to check it more often.

I'm near Stockport :-) what about you? I've seen a few nice Skoda's about and a lot more Fabia VRS's than where I used to live in Warrington.
