Had my VRS for a amazing 8days done 600 miles in it but tonight when I left it running while I got out I noticed the noise of the engine.... isit me or does it sound loud while just in P or N on tickover? Im not saying ots like a diesel but sounds abit ticky. its only done 600 miles. Thanks

i noticed the engine sounds louder when i got outside the car too. funny that.

All the tractors at work are louder when you're on the outside as well. Something to do with sound insulation and the lack of it on the outside of the car.

I got SWMBO to test this out for me. She said its a little noisier on the outside in P and N but a lot noisier with it in D. It was tricky for her to tell what was happening when I floored it in S mainly due to the wind noise and she also had to hold on to the roof rails quite hard. I was cornering like a maniac but she still managed to cling on bless her ;-)

It's is quite a 'ticky' engine at idle. It sounds pants until you are on half - full throttle. Don't worry about it.

We have all sorts! Comedians, people who like to correct you on your grammar or spelling, but most of all, we have someone who has a memory like google

They are a noisy little engine to begin, but it will get louder when it starts to get low on oil. So may be worth a look.

Mine can sound crummy on tickover at times, at times it can use oil, at times the brakes fade when hammered, it rattles a bit, it can give poor steering feedback.

But most of the time it's just a damn good fun little car to live with and drive.

Is it just me or does every new vrs thread that crops up just seem to be about negative comments? people need to chill out a bit and stop worrying, get out there and enjoy the car and if it breaks so be it,thats what the warrenty is for.

I used to avoid this forum because of the relentless negativity but now it's just water off a duck's back :p !

Isn't this simply because it is chain driven... So perfectly normal?

EDIT: I am referring to the faint ticking noise.
