VW Main Dealer Happy to Service your 1.4 TSI vRS Twincharger.

Featured Replies

Just had great Customer Service from a VW Main Dealer on a vRS, a 'Main/Major Service' to keep a cars Warranty all okey dokey..

32,000 Miles and 3 1/2 year old vRS.

Cost £249 the same as Skoda might quote.

Basically just a 'Long Life Oil' & Filter change, Fluids check and top up if required.

Pollen Filter & Air Filter Replaced, ECU/Diagnostic Check and ECU Enhanced.

Full visual Inspection, (wheels were off) Road test & Report.

Lots of lolly for what it is, but nice when the Dealership can be nice & the Technician comes and talks the Service and the vehicle through with you.

Minor or Major Services are rather expensive for what they are,

But VW quoting £249 or £299 with Spark plugs changed seems to be as good as it gets

unless your Skoda or Independent Workshop is OK.

If it works out cheaper or more convenient then worth doing

I doubt they can just hook up to their diagnostics as it won't allow access for different brands.

They did hook up to the diagnostics just fine,

but if other VW Dealerships can not,  then customers better check.

(the Registered Keeper details that Skoda have come up just the same for VW,

service & warranty record for the car as well.)

In my case i have my own Diagnostic Reader anyway, so it was not necessary, as i said, just keeping the Extended Warranty to the Manufacturers Guidelines.

(VW appear to be happy with their schedules and Skodas being identical for the identical engine/gearbox.)

I used to take my wife's Polo to Alex Lawrie Skoda for all it's servicing, better pricing and service than the local VW dealer, and no prob's with diagnostics (plus I have VCDS so was not to worried)

I didnt think VAG let brands get serviced at other VAG brand garages?  I also thought VAS was brand specific?

Its probably just the front page. You see plenty of the small combined vag dealers around Europe and I doubt they have a different unit for each brand.

gagerman, If that was the case,

that type of restrictive practices would be against EU legislation, Competition Rules and get VAG into trouble.

We'll I took the polo to Alex Lawrie for 5 years, all serviced without issue and each service had a vas print out along with the invoice. From a warranty perspective it was a vat registered garage using genuine vag parts, so Warrington Volkswagen did the couple of warranty jobs it went in for.

The diagnostic machine throws a hissy fit if the ODIS license is only for a certain brand. I know our dealership's ODIS license is just for Skoda only. It knows instantly when a VW/Audi/Seat is connected and gets mardy about it. I'm not sure whether it would deny an attempt to re-flash a control unit or not though.

Of course, if the dealership has paid for addition brand licenses, this wouldn't be a problem.
