TYRE ADVICE PLEASE

Featured Replies

Hi to all & apologies for a question thats probably been flogged to death on here!!! I need 2 new front tyres on my 58 plate octavia vrs 2ltr tdi pd. 225/40/r18 92w. My wife drives it 99% of the time as ive got a van i use.Shes a hairdresser so does a lot of stop starting locally. She also has a tendency to drive fast & brake at the very last minute much to my frustration  :wall:  GRRRR... can anyone advise On a tyre suitable considering stop starting & braking at the last minute!!!! also at a reasonable price... thanks in advance mark

Get some Maxxis MAz1s. They've got a massive rim flange..... to stop her kerbing the alloys. Cheapish too.

They're a bit noisy but plenty of grip

I paid £90 each for 4 Hankook Ventus V12 but in 17" size.  Fitted.

Second set.  Nice and quiet, grip and handle well, and wear well too, should that be important to you.

No anti kerbing thing.

We have Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on the VRS and they are pretty good. The Rainsport 3 is available now. My Dad has these and they seem fine too. I will try the 3's next time.

Are the RS3's quiet? I have RS2's on the front of my vrs and they are quite noisey

My Dad has them on the front of his Kia and they seem to be fine. They are not directional like the RS2'S.

He had Falken 912 before and they were quiet.

Been doing some reading here, as also on the market for new summer rubber (No specific order, and only minor £s apart, except for the Michelin:

Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance
Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2
Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti

If you've got the cash, I don't think you can go wrong with any Michelin tyre.

I have 4 Michelin energy savers on my Octavia that have now covered 18,000 miles. The rears still look almost new and the fronts still have significant tread left....I think the fronts will probably last 30,000 miles. They have much more grip than the Pirelli P6000's (which, admittedly are rubbish) that they replaced.

Given the longevity I am experiencing, the extra cost for the Michelin might not be an extra cost at all, but actually a saving compared to a cheaper tyre.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti

massively impressed with these tyres, ill give you if the ps3 is anything like the motorbike tyres they are going to be ****ing awesome

however these are a nice cheap but very, very good tyre.

id say they are as good as the eagle f1 easily in the dry in the wet not so much but to be honest on the road there is very little in them.
