Remap help?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a problem with my insurance while looking for a remap.

Basically, my insurance won't cover more than a 25% power increase. However practically every map I have looked at quote 170bhp. This is more than 25% so it would void my insurance! It's extremely frustrating as I live about 20 mins from shark and pass revo chesterfield regularly.

Should I wait for a renewal and change company or can anybody provide a map that is around the 160 mark?

Please help!

Faboka will most likely be your best bet.

Personally I'd wait for the renewal and then change insurer.

Simple answer, get it rolling roaded to give a base line. If greater than 130 BHP, add 25%, then ask for a remap to near that figure. Even generic remaps can be tweaked to limit torque and power if required.

An ASZ in good trim should give 135-140 as a baseline. Some later BLT cars better 145BHP. Depends on the RR and operator...

How will your insurance be able to check how much horse power it's got anyways? Surely they're not going to put it on a rolling road just get it done and says it's 160 lol

When I got my policy, I went for a modified one before I had modded the car, I said I would be remapping and they said a percentage increase. As far as I'm concerned most BLT engined fabias are running 145-150bhp and there is no way my car is now 25% more powerful.

Maybe your insurance company is a bit funny and you could be better going with a company that specialises in modified policy's. When I rang them up they were very helpful and answered questions I had.

I'd imagine trouble might start over the 25% thing if you were going hybrid turbo etc for mega power

Exactly, especially if you crash! Oh wait lets just rolling road your car even though you're missing 3 wheels and your engines fallen out.

Not only that but cars over/under read anyway. It's a joke haha

Haha. We need to get this on the RR asap!

Haha I did think that, so you think just go to shark for a good map and say it's upto 25%? I'm with elephant and not too impressed to be honest.

Will definitely be looking around afterwards.

Thanks for all the help.

I left elephant ages ago ! With swinton now and they're good.

If worst comes to worst you could always ask a forum member or whoever you get the car mapped by to print out a standard BLT engined Fabia which produced 145bhp on the rollers and give your insurance company that ;)

Also any thoughts on awesome maps? I've seen them at 150 sureley that's a bargain?

Yeah may have to do that. I always assumed the quoted figures were estimated at best (and possibly slightly inflated for sales).

I spent a long time looking at remaps, and i didn't want to spend the money on some of the more expensive ones, although companies like shark seem highly recommend. In the end I went for a remap off Faboka on here and haven't looked back. His well recommended on here and cheapest that I have found.

The faboka remap is awesome, the car is so much more driveable day to day and the way it pulls is unreal. You'd have to spend over twice as much to get a map as good imo

Don't know where people are getting 145bhp for the BLT vRS. Mine was only 139.4bhp on sharks rollers.

SWMBO has had 2 BLT engined vrs's, both made over 150bhp on 2 different rolling roads each (152 and 153 respectively iirc).

Fabooka maps seem to get a massive thumbs up on here, SWMBO has a Jabbasport remap with over 175, but given the choice I would strip it out and go with Fabooka, purely for the way people say it is configured (high and low torque versions)

Mine is a Dec 2006 build 56 plate BLT, so one of the last Mk1's. I have a Jabba printout at 161hp, however these rolling-roads tend to massively over-read due to operator errors, calibration anomolies of the RR.. probably more reasons also.. It feels more like 150bhp if I'm honest, or thereabouts..

I've owned 2 mk4 Golf PD130s, 'mapped one to 180hp (and boy it was keen!).

Its plenty quick enough, for the moment  ... 82.5mpg this morning on the boring commute

Ah okay, how much are we looking at for a fabooka map? I'm very tempted by awesome's for 150 quid.

£75 dude!

£75?

That's cheaper than a slice of cake in Amsterdam!

I haven't had one personally, but from what I've heard of Awesome's maps, you will end up with a very torque spikey map with a large power figure. You'll also get a free smoke machine after having it, which will likely eat your standard clutch and turbo quickly...

I would seriously avoid! Some will no doubt be happy with their service though.

My 06 BLT made 145bhp on r tech rollers. After their stage 1 map it is now 174bhp, 290ftlb
