Would this bicycle rider be happy with a 2006 Octy L&K 1.9 TDI DSG with most extras in the list?

I'd go with the bike. The Skoda is nice but if the bike meets your needs i'd stick with it. Well I wouldn't actually because I wouldn't be seen dead on a bicycle but you get the idea. Think of the environment man.

Actually i'm jealous of the L&K and DSG aspects of your planned purchase although i'd personally go for the 2.0 TDi (in fact I did).

Interesting you can buy a new octavia with a 1.9 tdi engine. I thought that all Octavia 2 in diesel form had the newer 2.0 litre block.

Nope, actually the OctyII 4x4 diesel is only currently available in 1.9 form with a 6 Sp Box

The non 4x4 models are available in 1.9 or 2.0 but only the 2.0 gets a 6 sp box. I think all the diesels are available with the DSG gearbox too.
