Not a recall as such.!

Featured Replies

Hi folks was in with the dealers today for a warranty claim for my exhaust (back box) so as i was waiting the service guy said to me that there was wiring harness work to be done around the fan on my car when i asked him was it just mine he said no, but told me a lot of mk2s were having this work done on them.Does anyone know what they done to my car because he couldn't. Also got a new rear badge fitted through warranty because my one was starting to go off.

It's just a service campaign. All we do is put a bit of tape around the wiring loom to the fan control relay and then cable tie it to the horn bracket. There's been cases of the wiring rubbing through onto the PAS bracket and causing the fans to continually run (although I've never seen it happen personally)

I was actually in with skoda today to see if my warranty will cover my back box which is imo is rusting way to much. Here's a few foto's of the back box if you want to comment. By the way all they done was to take some foto's and sent them away to skoda UK for them to decide. These are my own pics just in case i have to contact Skoda UK myself.

Christ, that is poor for a maximum 3 year old car, looks like a 51 plate Pug 206.

Does look a bit poor, but it's only the outer skin. As it's not blowing I wouldn't feel confident in knocking it and replacing it without Skoda getting involved. The thing in the back of my mind is always weather it's going to come back and bite me/the dealership. A small claim slip up or being rejected has a multiplier effect and can end up costing alot more to the dealership.

Only thing is, tech support/Skoda usually just say it's down to us to decide. However, if customer services get involved and tell us to change something we're not sure about, that trumps it all.

So if i had to contact Skoda UK myself and send off my own picks which department would be best to send them to.

Wouldn't know as I've never had to do it, but I assume there's a number for Customer Services listed somewhere on the net? Not sure if there's specific numbers for different departments.

What I do know is dealerships hate Customer Services being involved as they don't half get on at you!

Customer services sounds a good place to start.

Yeah - as above - I took mine in for service #2 last week (can't do clever linky stuff to my post on here).

Service Dept Receptionist :"It needs recall work" Me - but you're not recalling it.

I think she meant - service attention.  i.e. they grab it if it's in, do the mod, no need to recall.  Yet.

Securing the wiring loom to prevent rubbing.

I think there have been a few posts about it so far.  Seems odd that they're making people aware, but not really making people aware...
