Can variable boot floor be retro fitted?

Featured Replies

Dealer is telling he his configurator is saying it's not available in a Combi, though if you step through it on Skoda website it says it is. He says it may be because of short supply etc.

I'm not convinced by this, but does anyone know if this is the case, or if it can be fitted later after car is delivered?

I did in my MK2...

Sure someone else on here looked into it and its a no as all the side panels in the boot are different too so you'd basically have to gut the boot and start from scratch....

Probably not then - when he stepped through the options on his pc the VBF was greyed out - anyone got any idea why?

There's two VBFs I think, one Canton and one non Canton. Could that be the problem? Maybe trying to spec the non Canton VBF when Canton already specced?

I have the VBF with the Canton on my estate and many others here with/without it. Maybe there's a supply issue (again)...

Hope not - supposedly standard on the Elegance (which is what I've ordered)..

I will probably make my own VBF out of ply and decent carpet. By using the existing Standard (crap) boot floor as a template it should be pretty easy to cut top and bottom 3-section panels, fitting variable spacers (kitchen unit or hinged legs) to the top sections to allow for adjustment. I estimate £60-£80 cost and a free Saturday or Sunday to get it right.

I think that for most of the time the lowered boot floor will be more practical to me space-wise, but I need to replace the cheap and nasty standard flooring anyways, so I may as well create a two-tier option. The standard floor buckles easily after placing a couple of bags of building material in there so is pretty useless for anyone who actually uses a boot to carry things.

What trim level are you looking at, as it was standard on the Elegance estate which may explain why you can't select it as an option.

It's very handy, and a definite improvement on having everything sliding around - I just leave it folded up as a divider most of the time.

I bought a demo car, did not see the actual car I was to get but one that was supposed to be identical the VBF was written in contract when I picked up it was not there, they tried to fob me off with some story, they then told me it would cost them about Euro 800 to retrofit, was not really bothered about the VBF but got a ski box and mounting and a load of extra trim bits at their expense.

Little clearer on this (I think) - if you select the VBF + Canton as options for an SE on the UK site, it's fine.

However I'm in Ireland, and when you select these same options for an "Ambition" model (slightly lower than the SE I believe) it says you can't have them both together. Anyone know why?
