Really exciting intermittent boot release issue

Featured Replies

Sometimes my boot release works (the one on the boot) - sometimes it doesn't.

I have no idea as to what the difference is about when it does and doesn't...

All ideas welcome!

Thanks!

Does it always work on the keyfob?

Mine was similar a couple of years ago. The connection on the button had come slightly loose.

Re-soldered and all was well again :)

Thanks - I don't have that button on the keyfob - just lock and unlock?

2001 MY if that makes a difference?

It's usually one of the lock motor wires that run from the 'C' pillar to the extension loom in the tailgate lid.

Do you think it will have corroded or snapped - or something else - do you have any advice on the best way to rectify this please? All welcome!

It's often a broken wire where the wires pass from the chassis to the tailgate lid.

The wires need to reach further on the estate than the hatchback so there is an extension loom in the tailgate lid and the wires at the extra connector can corrode.

Thanks that's very helpful. Will investigate!
