Interior light (rear) skoda rapid sport

Featured Replies

Why does the rear interior light in my rapid not work with the doors ? Seems pointless !

Is this just my Rapid or has everyone the same issue.

It's same on all of em :-( Its the most dissapointing thing i've found about the car so far tbh! Especially trying to get the kids out the back of the thing in complete darkness! I'm not sure Skoda could say they saved an awful lot of money here either? I mean come on theres already sensors on the doors!!

Same here Will. Might have a go at sorting it out this weekend in some way, maybe run a set of wires from the front light. Just spoke to Skoda and they said "let the first person who gets in turn the light on" What a stupid bloody answer ! so I have to get in turn it on then put the baby in the car seat !!!!!!!!!

I told her so and put the phone down. Come on Skoda get your act together.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Along similar lines I noticed today that when I hold down the lock button on my key it doesn't close any open windows. Unlike any other Skoda I have previously owned...

no no no not a focus.

My light is the same, I also looked at it and couldn't understand howcome the switch doesn't have 3 options, on/off/doors.

I agree that they were cheap in places which shouldn't be so, for me, these are the ones that I find innoying:

- the rear cabin light

- electric window switch, you can automatically lower the window, but you have to hold the button to get it back up

- I have electric windows in all 4 doors, but the drivers door only has control for the front ones, not the rear

- no opening of the windows with the remote

- I have electric windows in all 4 doors, but the drivers door only has control for the front ones, not the rear

What model do you have? Mine has switches for all 4 windows.

Yeah just little things but u really notice. I often use the remote window close and really notice the lack of global closing windows.

They have changed this on newer models.

Yeah, I know, I got the older one (made in May 2013), now they have 4 window control, whereas the first didn't. I made a separate thread on this forum regarding the windows.

Just wanted to point out the small things on which they save money, which later on owners find really annoying. I mean, if it costs 10EUR more to have these things fixed, I would gladly pay the extra 10 EUR to have slightly more expensive switches for example. I hope someone from Skoda is reading this :)

I know that this is all part of make the Rapid a cheaper model and making you want to upgrade to an Octavia or a VW, but still, if the competition can offer these things on similar priced models, you would expect Skoda to have it.

Well understand what you mean mine is a 2013 reg May.  Now see they come with rear window controll (drivers).  Perhaps I am only picking because I have never wanted to open rear windows anyway but it's just one of those things.

Came with Cruise control, Blue tooth (never use it) USB and aux, air con (standard) alloys 15", Brilliant Silver paint, fully water filling doors ( now solved)  1.6 TDI

10 miles on clock fromMotorpoint @ £12,5000.

Perhaps it wasn't such a loss, but stillannoying no rear window control.

BTW you don't need to cut into the wiring either. All you need is a couple of meters of cable and a diode.

Is it possible to write a small diy? Very interested in this

DIY instruction thread as this would be a huge advantage.

So you now have the rear interior lights coming on and going off with the rest? Are they still individually controllable with the switches manually?

I'm very interested in that, so I'll add to the calls for a DIY info thread :)

Or, since you're a fellow wire fan, I can chuck you some ££ once I'm back in work if you fancy doing it again :D

Hi Thecko

Yes the lights all work and independently. Ever light comes on when a door is opened and you can use any courtesy light independently in the car.

I should of taken pics when I was doing the job. Doh

I will have to take all the lights out again now to show. But I will give it a go.

Thecko I dont want paying m8 ! your a fellow skoda owner.

Ive just put a thread up to give people an idea of how to do the job. Mite be better if we do yours and take pics along the way coz Ive taken pics after the job so not as easy to describe. You might think its now easy enough to do yourself !

Very kind of you mate, thanks :)  Would one day next weekend be suitable for you?  It does look reasonably simple but I lack a soldering iron (I just lost some man points for admitting that I think :D)
