Rear brake guard LOOSE - ABS - ESP

Featured Replies

Today I noticed a little rattle which got worse and worse, then my ESP, ABS and TPG lights came on.

I went to my local garage who noticed my Rear passenger brake guard came loose and was rubbing. He fitted 3 or 4 new bolts and told me the old bolts had corroded and hence it coming loose.

So yay problem fixed..however lights on the dash still remain, I have done a VagCom reset yet they still come back up.

ABS wheel speed sensor rear left G46 sporadic

003 mechanical failure

How do I fix this? Just a new sensor? Or is it a new hub?

Any ideas/advice would be great.

Ps- Octy Vrs 07 tdi

I would check the wiring, the brake guard may have damaged it, or the sensor.

If not sensor its a new hub unit mate as the sensor ring is on back of hub and breaks away which chucks up the warnings you have on the dash, costs between 50 to 75 pounds depended which you buy and held with an M18 spline bolt.

New bolt is supplied as its a use once only it takes about 1 hour to do good luck.

Sooo...should I go for a new sensor then if that fails then new hub.

Or go straight for new hub or just buy and fit both???

Probably the magnetic sensor in the hub. That's more common than the sensor itself.

On my 07 the magnetic rings in both rear hubs rusted and had to be replaced.

I also had to do the stone guard on one side. Clanging like a feckin bin lid.

As above says usually magnetic ring, when i first checked mine about an inch had come off when it was fitted about 4 inches was missing absolutely corroded away mine was offside. Sensor was fine looked brand new to be honest and clean.

Right okay. So are these magnetic sensors something that can be replaced singling or do I still need to replace the whole hub?

No you cant replace it on its own, its part of hub assembly i think hubs only supposed to go on once and off once, i may be wrong somebody with more knowledge will be able to advise better. But as spline bolt only comes with a new hub and ring is attached to hub you only have one option mate.
