3 mobile network - keep handset downgrade contract - possible?

Featured Replies

I wonder if any members can give me assistance/been through this before.

Have had my iPhone 4S on 3 for the past 24 months and all has worked well - so happy to stay with 3 and use my 4S for the next wee while.

Currently pay £30 per month but I see 1 month SIM deals for £12.90 which would give me data/mins/texts all that I need.

But for love nor money I cannot see any option to do this online - I am eligible to upgrade but is it because I am wanting to 'downgrade' that they don't make it easy? I appreciate it is probably a sales tactic to suck you into another 24 month contract but I don't want to do that.

Surely I don't need to cancel my contract and then start again?

Any advice?

Many thanks.

You need to call them or pop into a local store, yes it can be done no problem. I am currently on a 30 day sim only plan with unlimited data (inc. 4G) for less than £13 a month.

Yep, only takes about 15 minutes no messing about or calling customer support - they're jumping at the chance just to keep you for another contract term! You just have to sign a new contract for the tarriff and you're away, no changing of SIMs or numbers, walk in walk out.

The same deal but on a 12 month contract is only £9 per month too, that's the one I have.

Definitely a good way of doing things once you've finished paying off the phone which is now yours, and you aren't the kind of fool person who has to have the latest version of everything.

Went into the 3 store, 5 mins later on the new lower tariff at no cost.  All very straightforward (but can't be done online).

Thanks again.
