Squeaky glovebox

Featured Replies

I'm assuming its movement of the glovebox door on the rubber cones, but it's driving me mad! If I press the glovebox closed, it stops squeaking, so it must be movement of the door against something?

Any ideas how to stop it? Has anyone else had this?

If it is the rubbing on the rubber mounts try a tiny bit of grease on the rubber.

Check the plastic catches that hold the door close.

Also check the switch that controls the glove box light - top left hand side. My one rattled and squeaked from there as it is hard plastic against hard plastic. I stuck some trim tape over one side and it cured the rattle and squeak.

Its really annoying and I've had it on and off on a few Skodas. The cause has either been the catch in which case some grease would work as mentioned above or movement between the glovebox door and dash. I think i mentioned this on another thread but I found placing adhesive strips - one or two, along the edge where the door meets the dash does the job. You know those soft pieces of foam with an adhesive back, like the ones you might use under the base of soft furnishings to prevent scratching. Sounds a bit random I know but it works ( and on other panels as well e.g. rattles on back seats or doors)
