New style badge fake or real

Featured Replies

Bought a new style grill badge off the bay that the seller claimed to be genuine. It came in a small bag with the part number stamped on the bag itself but no skoda sticker/part number on the bag. It also came on a white shiny backing paper.

The old stle badge had a hole cut out with the part number and skoda symbol stamped on it (as pictured) but the new one just had a grey foam sticky back as in the second pic with no sign of a part number.

Before i contact the seller claiming it is fake and asking for a refund, can anyone confirm if this is normal for a new style badge as i find it a bit strange for a genuine item not to have a part number anywhere

All i can tell you is the adhesive tape on the rear of my "New style" badges was black and the bit you peel off was a dark yellowish colour.

Bought mine direct from the dealer.

I'd imagine the part number is under the adhesive. If it looks the part why question it?

pull the backing back (don't remove it totally) and check. Then place the backing back down until ready to fit.

Looks like it could also fit a Lexus too :)

Looks damaged around the edges.

Cause it weren't cheap and my mate bought one on the bay (not the same seller) and after 2 weeks the front came away from the backing and he lost it.

Do they normally come in a box/ bag and does the bag have the part number on a sticky label. The part number was printed on the white backing paper!?

Didn't realise fakes would be available yet. The genuine ones are only £10 or so, can't really see a market for fakes

£10 from main dealers??

Mine came in a bag together with the part number label on the bag.

I paid £15 odd each for mine.

I paid £20 for both of mine. Even if mine are fake, I can't see a difference next to my mum 2013 Monte Carlo :)

Thought they came like that tbh think I may have been had but the rest of the items he is selling are all boxed and labeled so not 100%.

Think I'll get the boot badge from the dealers is that £15 + vat or including?

Anyone know dealer prices for the new style vrs badges front and back and part numbers? Also new style wheel centres from the dealers and part number?

The information off my Parts Invoice is as follows.

5J0853621AAUL    - Retail £15.82  x2

£37.97 including vat.

I used the same badge for both front and back, both fitted perfect.

Thanks, thats the part number this one claimed to be.

Any idea on prices for the new style vrs badges and wheel centres from main dealers?

turn it round and look at the front face, if it looks like a skoda badge then its doing its job.

As long as its not obviously different, i can't see the issue.

Got mine off ebay for £12 each and they look the same as yours on the sticky end. If they are fakes, they're really well made fakes so I'm not too fussed

Thanks for the advice. My point is it was sold as genuine . If I wanted to by a cheap fake I could have paid a couple of quid

The other point being if they were to be fake it would help others avoid. Not sure why there are so many comedians with pointless quotes to be honest?
