Ongoing intermittent EML problem

Featured Replies

Ive been having problems with my EML coming on every so often and going back off again. It only ever comes on when the car is being started and never whilst driving. The car has been into the several different garages now (including a skoda specialist) they all keep telling me that its because the car has been remapped, which was done before i picked it up. I've now put a standard map on it now thanks to Faboka on here and its came back on again.

Its a 2006 VRS with a BLT engine and done 94k miles.

Heres a link to the issue:

I havnt noticed any shudder when turning the Engine off and the car runs fine weather its on or not. One of the garages has changed the control motor for the flap and i read on an Audi forum that this blows the fuse for the radiator which is under the bonnet, I think it was 30A

Does anyone know what fuse it would relate to on the Fabia.

Arnold Clark have offered to settle the finance and let me chose something else, but i real;ly like this car and for the price i would have anything else.

The other option is to just put up with it as being one of they things that happen.

I'm curious as to what Fault codes its logging. May offer a bit more of an insight.

It seems to me by a process of deduction that the manifold flap motor is working since you don't get the shudder when you switch off which means the flap is closing properly and you're able to easily start the car which means the flap is opening when you turn the key, something is making the ECU think the flap is still shut when you start the car, I can therefore assume that the ECU only polls the flap motor on startup which suggests a possible wiring fault or an ECU error.

My mistake, i didn't click the link, lol

Ignore the Audi forum - that info has no relation to your car. The flap motor (amongst other things) are fed from F24 (10A). It could be a lazy ECU power relay (in position 15 on the relay plate).

If both of the above are OK, check you have 12V between pins 1/2 of the connector (with ignition on) and continuity between pins 3/4 and the ECU (ECU plug disconnected).

The skoda garage said they couldnt take the remap map off because the ECU wouldnt allow them. Not sure what type of garage they were though bacuse it was Arnold Clark that took the car in and not me. So if they were correct ECU error could be a possibility

This sounds interesting, I can check the fuse and relay, Not sure how to check a relay but i'll find out. But part 2 sound like it could be a bit over my head. Im far from being a mechanic and having to go on what im reading on here and google.

Thanks so far guys.
