a problem with stubby aerials!

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a 60mm long Citroen stubby aerial. Fitted it to my car, radio reception great. So far so good...

First trip away for a while, and a chance to use the TMC feature on the amundsen Sat nav. No joy! No updates available. The TMC broadcast is on a frequency that needs the 200mm long aerial to receive it.

Turns out VAG do know what they are on about :-)

So a pain for me, need the 60mm aerial when the roofbox is on, which I only need on hols or visiting friends away from home, which is when I like the benefit of TMC.....

balls! Proves you can't have everything!

i stil get tmc messages with my stubby - its the partsforeuro one which i think is actually an vag oem sharan item.

Hmmmm, so the mistake may have been purchasing something French, not that that would ne a surprise...

I have the short aerial rom a VW polo on mine and only problem I have is lately on MW the sound is next to none existent which is no good for the talk sport channel

Stands to reason, a shorter aeriel offers reduced reception.

My MW reception is fine with short aerial. I thought the MW antenna was in the OSR window on an estate?

Yeah, could be. Thought it was just diversity for a stronger reception but when I swapped to a Bolero I got the two connectors the wrong way round and FM worked fine either way but AM only worked one way round.
