real world mileage for 2.0CR?

Featured Replies

On Wednesday 19/03/2014 I bought an Elegance 140 cr manual estate 2010, driving it home from Nottingham to Whitby the average fuel consumption was shown as 58.7mpg

it was the average for just that journey, I reset it before I set off.

I've just filled mine up for the first time (2 litre diesel) & was surprised how small the tank is, it took 50 litres . It shows a range of only 440 miles, that's a shock as my mondeo could take 20 litres more and as a result had another 200 mile range

Well, capacity of the tank is in tech specifications (60 L) so you cannot blame Skoda for hiding it from customers :)

On mine it usually shows 840 km (525 mi) range when I fill in full tank.

My priority was the vehicle size, and the offer of zero percent finance was too hard to resist. Anyway I've done 250 miles in it and at an indicated 72 on cruise it's shoWing 60 mpg so I'm really pleased with that

I've 'only' done 2k so far in my pre-FL 170 Man 4x4 Twindoor, but out of curiosity I did a trip down the A12 from Ipswich to Romford recently sitting at an indicated 58mph in cruise, all the way. If any you you know the A12 it is traffic-light and roundabout-free from Copdock to the M25 (about 55 miles or so), and the traffic was light.

I reset my trip meter just before joining the A12....by the M25/A12 junction the trip computer was showing 60.1 mpg!! Allowing for say a 10% error that's still perhaps 55mpg - not bad for a car not yet loosened up I think?

I've gotta say though that driving at 58mph is NO fun; I got old doing that trip...never again :giggle:

I'm in a 170 crtdi 4x4 dsg twindoor. Current average is 39mpg (12000 miles on the clock). I'm usually doing short around town trips, with a few 150 miles + in between.

On my longer roundtrips (500 in a day) I can get 650 miles on a full tank. Don't know the mpg of that.

Mine's only the 140 with manual box and it's done 300 miles. it seems lively enough though when you give it a bit of throttle. Obviously I'm being kind to it atm but at 70 mph it's doing 1700 rpm which is impressively low. I aim to do lots of long distance motorway driving in it so it's ideal :-)

My 2011 140 CR DSG Twin Door, which is soon to be swapped for a FL 170 CR DSG Estate, has averaged a true 53 mpg over 50k miles of mostly motorway use.

My commute is a 96 mile round trip, and while I do travel very early and therefore don't get any traffic, on my gentle, non-hurried, drive to work in the morning, I've seen up to 72 mpg indicated.

I guess my point is that the biggest factor in economy, is driving style and road/traffic conditions. In steady speed conditions, a diesel Superb is about as economical as anyone could ask. I always manage to get around 650 miles from a 55-ish litre fill-up and have had over 700.

Of course if you have a heavy foot and do lots of stop-start driving in town, it's a heavy car and that will take it's toll.

Because I'm doing 20k miles a year, I thought about going for a new Octavia - quarter of a tonne lighter, so should be significantly more economical - but have decided that for the driving I do, I'm just not going to see enough difference to be worth the down-sizing. :-)

I think the latest engine is more efficient according to their site so you can expect a better fuel consumption now

I did a 500 mile round trip earlier this week, up to Yorkshire and back using motorways where possible. Admittedly there were a lot of 50 mph roadworks and it averaged 66 mpg , which is a good thing

Semi rural + 15% city 46-50 mpg
