What am I doing wrong...

Featured Replies

I've tried loads of different combinations and can't seem to fond anything on the internet about the following:

2006 octi Vrs with xenon dipped beam.

Firstly, driving lights via fogs whatever combination I use in long coding I can not get the fogs on without the dipped beam. The only way I can get the fogs to illuminate is choosing the option "with handbrake applied" has anyone had this problem?

Secondly, leaving home lights. At the moment I have it set to personalisation so every time the car is unlocked the xenon's illuminate but when I select The "by light sensor" option even in pitch black the lights do not come on when I unlock the car.

If any of you vcds magicians can helpe out here I'd really appreciate it!

Do you want as DRL only fog lights to be turned on or do you want also rear/front parking lights to be turned on?

Ideally just the fogs but I don't mind the front rear lights also been on if that's required.

The closest you'll get, I suspect, is the Scandinavian setup. That will have the rear lights active too. The hand-brake related setup is the American one.

Do you have auto-lights and auto-wipers? If not, the you probably won't have the light-sensor up by the rear-view mirror. No light sensor = no CH/LH lights I'm afraid. Apparently you can code without light-sensor, but then they will work in the middle of the day too.

I seem to recall retro-fitting the light-sensor is a big job and requires the windscreen being changed too.

I did not work on VRS model, but on many nonVRS models with or without xenon lights this worked perfect: disable Scandinavian type and enable North American type. Enable DRL via fog lights. That should do it. Though there is a catch: DRL will turn on only when handbrake is disengaged. If handbrake is engaged, DRL will stay turned off (I give a 90% possibilty that this was your problem  ). I was looking for a solution for this, but no luck.

On Octavia II preFL CH/LH lights work without a problem also without light sensor. Though yes, they work all the time (night and day).

Anyway, probably it depends on the module installed: for example I can confirm that on 3C0 937 049 AE CH/LH with light sensor work only by night.

Thank you very much for your help I'm going into the garage to try some coding!

I have auto wipers and auto lights so I'll see what happens in the next half an hour!!

Hid every time for DRL weather its Scandinavian or north american - ive also tried DRL via fogs on and off.

Light sensor doesn't with either...looks like it's coming and leaving home day or night...luckily the car is used in the dark most of the time.

Thanks again

I can confirm that also on your module DRL only with fog lights work (I have this exact module in my car :giggle: ).

Did you disengage the hand brake?

Though there is another option. Did you change something on Byte 20? You should not have 0 in Byte 20, but lets say 50% is a fair value for DRL. And I suppose you have fog lights enabled  ?

I've put the car away to think about it's actions and hopefully she will behave better tomorrow when I plug her in again! Ha.

I'll let you know how I get on with byte 20...I know fogs are installed but I'm unsure about the other bits.

40 in byte 20 - with Scandinavian active I get hid and fogs even with DRL via fogs selected. With north america I just goe his with no fogs!

Giving it up as a bad job ill stick with sidelights. :(

Too bad. Can you explain HID and HS to me, because I do not understand these two terms.

Sorry auto correct on my new phone that I clearly can not type on!

HID (XENONS) and the next bit should say "I just get HID with no fogs"
