Samsung Galaxy S5 with RSAP?

Featured Replies

Been googling and not found much, be interesting to see what happens when these start to appear and if they work with RSAP. I know the S4 does, my S2 does. Any comments or experiance on this?

How can we know, when its not on sale yet.

S2, S3, S4 work out of the box, so can't see why the S5 shouldn't.

KitKat works on S3/S4 with rSAP, and S5 has KitKat, so all good.

Slight tangent, but still Samsung: my Note 3 works fine :)

S1 did too so would imagine it would. You can get an rsap app anyway.

Samsung phones should would work out of the box but I know of some members who have had trouble where the operating system has seemingly been modified by the airtime provider. Not sure which but I can say that O2 definitely works with RSap out of the box for me and my S3.

I have an S4 but no idea what rSAP or KitKat is.  Got I feel like a fogey.

RSAP is Remote SIM Access Profile, essentially a way for other Bluetooth devices to access the phone. The contacts will be duplicated onto the other device (In my case an RNS315) and the phone becomes more like a modem than a phone.

KitKat is a chocolate bar ;)

It's also the name of the latest release of the Android operating system, following in the tradition of being named after something sweet, and in alphabetical order. (Frozen Yogurt, Gingerbread, Honeycombe, Ice-Cream Sandwich) It was originally called Key Lime Pie, until some marketing genius realised that KitKit started with a K too.

I dont get RSAP, as all my hones have done this without RSAP support.

Some carkits (e.g. Nokia CK7W) don't access/copy the phonebook, they'll just "pass on" commands. The CK7W was/is way better at voice commands than the RNS315, it's also better at recognising contacts.

The easiest way to see if you have RSAP is to see if the contacts are available without the phone being connected. My RNS315 arrived with someone else's contacts on :o

iPhones just work.

actually they don't. Iphone didn't bother with rsap. My car is rsap only.

JRW,

Do you recommend a rsap app? As my S3 has never worked on the factory fit bluetooth (though I think I have the older system built 2009).

I've not used one. The s3 should work. I had one and it works fine. My module will be the same as yours.

Interesting, mine does not work. My HTC HD2 works fine on it.

Hmmmm maybe there is an update?

Just revisiting this, anyone got any experience using the new phone with RSAP on an early FL?
