EGR Clean help! Missing bolt! Need replacement asap!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Wondering if you could help me out here, I took to cleaning out my EGR valve this morning, and to cut a long story short, when I was fitting the exhaust pipe that goes on the bottom of the EGR back on, one of the bolts fell out and I cant for the life of me see if anywhere in the bay, I fitted it up with the 1 remaining bolt - started it but the car does a terrible scream at 2k revs... so decided its best to not drive until I have that bolt fitted properly.

Does anyone have one of these bolts? Or know the part number? Its simliar to the 3 allen head bolts that hold the EGR in place, but they are a bit bigge and hold the exhaust pipe underneath inplace... sorry for any incorrect terms used, just trying to explain as best I can.

Thank you for any help :)

Yup VRS - You are a star! Now to see if I can get one tomorrow before work!

I cannot beleive the mess itside that EGR valve, crazy!

I would be more worried where this bolt has gone, without worrying you what's the chances of it going somewhere were it shouldn't be?

Bad idea starting the car untill you have found that bolt.  Chances are its has fallen through to the under tray.  I think it would be hard to get one of those bolts lost in the intake as they are quite big.  Anyhow for a replacement either you local dealer or a friendly scrappy, there are two types of the same bolt though.  One has Allen, the other Torx.

Have you took off undertray to look or just "looked"

Without sounding harsh. The way you started it up to see it is will be ok kinda tells about your attitude

it wont be anywhere dangerous. But mifht have fell onto the road now
