brakes noisy on reverse

Featured Replies

Hi all,

had my VRS for 2 weeks now and only couple days ago i noticed that there is this horrible noise coming from rear wheels when reversing. it doesnt happen driving forward and also car doesnt pull to one side on braking. could it be rear calipers? and how do i solve this issue please?

Is it like a high pitched cow mooing?

Mine does this also even after new discs and pads all round, suspected sticky caliper??

Probably THE most discussed issue on here. Just do a search on it buddy you'll find everything you need to know.

yes thats it mate

I had this too and only on the rears. I had the discs, pads and callipers replaced under warranty and it still makes the noise a little bit.

ok will have a look, thanks lads

It's perfectly normal, they just make that noise sometimes! It's caused by vibration when the pads are working in the opposite direction to which they have bedded in.

Mines had pads, discs, calipers everything. It still does it. Its a high pitch vibration that carries through the rear axle beam. You could buy a dampener kit from Skoda a few years back but I think they've been discontinued now. I don't think a cure was ever sorted for this so I just learned to put up with it. Some owners fitted return springs to the handbrake cable bracket but again, some had success others didn't. Good luck!!
