just joined the yeti club

Well due to a recent health issue,I had to get rid of my seat Leon fr. 1.4tsi manual with tech pack and has been a joy to drive and I loved the car. However I'm currently unable to drive until the end of April,so the missus is now the main driver and she just can't get on with the manual. She admitted that she really preferred the Octavia vrs dsg we had and due to the fact of my health, and if I have another episode,I can't drive for 6 months. A work colleague brought his yeti dsg over so the missus could try it and she loves, especially the driving position.

Spoke to my local dealer and explained the situation.Fair play to the salesman, he did a few prices for me and got back to me within a couple of hours. As there wasn't any factory ready dsg models available, he said they had a few new demo models and as I been a loyal customer,he said I could have one of the dsg yeti which are about to registered as demos. Happy with the costs, so placed the order for a Yeti elegance 2.0 diesel 140 4x4 dsg in metallic black. Only extra is the spare wheel. I could have it by Saturday, but unfortunately I have overtime on Saturday, so rather than rush prepping the car, I pick it up next week.

The colour not my 1st choice, but need a dsg car rather quick so I can live with that. So looking forward to it. Out of curiosity, has anyone got the internal bike carrier for the yeti?

Thanks for any advice or tips.

Cheers Richard

Guday Preston, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, but pleased to hear that your wife is happy with the Yeti. We are all seeking a bargain and pleased to hear that you achieved one. As an unofficial spokesperson for the down-under crew I bid you, your wife and the Yeti welcome. You will find the guys and gals an interesting lot on this forum, who will assist with answers, suggestions to any of your questions. Some will inject a little humour as well.

Happy trails,

Banjobach.

Hi Preston,

I think you'll find the internal bike rack isn't compatible with a spare wheel?

I usually remove one of the rear seats if I'm just carrying one bike - front wheel out and it stands  upright secured on the boot side bars.

HTH  - enjoy your new Yeti and best wishes on the health front

I concur with Merlinman.  Seat out lets you put the bike in with just the front wheel removed and I bungee it to the boot side bar.  I looked at the internal bike rack but I prefer the wheels in the boot, not in the passenger section.

Glad you're recovering nicely Richard.

You and your wife will LOVE the yeti, and I think you'll grow to love the colour too.

We need to start a Cardiomyopathy club in Briskoda :giggle:

Congratulations on the imminent arrival Richard and have to agree with Macdemon on the cardio club

Thanks all. Probably another reason why I went for the yeti over a Octavia was the seating flexibility. I'm currently looking into a electric mountain bike to give me a boost if I need it and it means I can do further mileage to help with the fitness. I do have a set of Thule wingbars I had for the Octavia,so can use them as well, just got to get the roof bar adapters.

My missus is laughing now as it be her you gets to play with it first. So I be like a spoilt kid who had all his toys taken off him. April 29 can't come quick enough. I'm booked in to a few sites in Brecon and llandridnod wells so will be taking it up there and I'm off to Twickenham for the Army Navy weekend over the bank holiday weekend,so can get the engine broken in quickly.

Morning all, could someone measure the width between the roof bars on the yeti for me please.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard. The distance at the rear is 3' 4" or 102 cm.

That's the highest inside point. The bars slope inwards to the top, viewed from the front or rear.

My road bike, with mudgaurds fitted will fit laying on its side with the seat backs laid flat. I just lay a protective sheet over the seats first, and put the bike in rear wheel first on its side.

My mountain bike will also go in on its side but I have to take the front wheel off as it is slightly longer.

If I need to move more than 1 bike, or have rear seat passengers I have roof bars with 4 bike carriers fitted to take up to 4 bikes

Well finally took delivery bog the yeti this evening. As I'm unable to drive until the 29th,Paul the sales rep from Capitol Skoda, personally delivered the yeti to me at my house on his way home and did the handover in my kitchen.

Well so far Im quite impressed with it. Just sat in it and set things up and went through the manual. Missus is well impressed with it as she finds the driving position alot better than the mk3 Leon sc we just parted ex. Will get some pics up soon as weather is crap here at the moment

Richard,

If your existing wingbars are 127cm they will project over the cars roof rals rooflong and you will need the thule 775 foot pack. This is the one with the rubber tensioning band that wraps around the roof rails. I recently bought some off e-bay. They tend to go for about £55 in as new condition.

I seen them but how solid is the strap? I be a bit concerned if it can be just cut off quite easily.someone posted this link elsewhere and seems good for the price.
