Removing rear wishbone bush console on car?

Featured Replies

I spoke to a parts manager at a large Skoda dealer and he said they see quite a few problems with the console bushes on the wishbone.

He said they don't take the arm off just refit a new console with bush already in.

Anyone else done it with wishbone still on car. Makes sense just wonder how easy to get old console bush off and is it just bush new one in replace bolts and done?

ive done it on a few cars.

just warmed the alloy console with a blowtorch and hammered the bush out

The bush is hard to get off then. It does not slide out with the aluminium housing? Thanks

The console is just 3 bolts, a new one will come with the bush fitted. It can be tricky to get off the wishbone as there is a bit of a lip on the spigot of the wishbone which sits in the bush. Mine took a good bit of wiggling and persuading (swearing) to get off :)

problem with removing the whole console is the bolts have a nasty habit of shearing and you will need to get a full alignment done afterwards

For the price difference of not much I will replace the whole arm on both sides and get the tracking done.
