Couple of newby questions

Featured Replies

I have just bought a 60 plate face lift fabia se.

I was just wondering if....

1) these have the ability to have coming home lights engaged?

2) has anyone retro fitted fog lights to one of these? I did a search but I couldn't make out if anyone was successful.

3) is it possible to retro fit steering wheel controls to these?

Cheers

Hey. And welcome :).

1. Unfortunately not. I think cars with auto headlights can only be programmed for this.

2. In short. Not that i know. Fitting the light unit itself is simple enough, but wiring them up to work is the hard bit.

A few (including myself) thought there might be a loom left behind the bumper, but unfortunately there isnt :(.

3. Yes steering wheel controls can be done, but its not recommended to do it yourself. Theres a guy on here called Eddie-NL which had done a few for people with great results and very happy customers. He of course has to change some wiring and do some coding via VCDS.

Hope this helps :).

Just a friendly welcome to Fabia ownership. Just sold my Fabia which I enjoyed for 4 years, we had 5 Fabias in the family as in my avatar on the left. All very satisfied and BRISKODA comes up trumps for help and info......

One 1.2 has 140,000+ miles - result!

Thats impressive!

What engine is the 1.2? The htp or tsi?

What years the car?

Had many problems with it in that time?

Im interested in thst haha.

Cheers.

aaah coo, i emailled my llocal dealer about the fog lights and he said that i would need a new loom. but they can supply it but all in all it would cost 229 quid for the fogllights fitted!

cheers for the info,

i shall look further into these things when i get the car. you got any other little mods to reccomend that can wet my appetite?

cheers

£229 isnt a bad price for the work involved i dont think!

Depends how much you wanna spend haha. A maxidot display can be done, they look nice, hmm

Sunglasses holder is a nice touch for about £15.

Bluetooth can be done for a few hundred.

Arm rest is next for me :).

Have a search around on here. Somebodys usually tried or asked about any possible mod haha.

Octaylor38, it's a 1.2 htp and we've put front discs & pads as well as console bushes on it. My son, who is 37, bought it with 9,000 miles on it and had it serviced at a Skoda dealer during warranty. I've looked after it since. He's really impressed with Skoda and now wants to sell it and get an Octavia 'cos he needs the extra space. It's one of our 'fabulous of Fabias' as in the avatar to the left. Having posted the photo last year, no-one has claimed to have as many Fabias in their family. Any advance on 5?

Thats good! Not heard one of these engines lasting that long, but thats impressive.

Let's hope mine lasts that long :).

No advance on 5 from me im afraid. Mine is the only skoda in our family.

Mums got a 2005 polo with the 1.2HTP with 82,000 on the clock. No problems with that, fingers crossed.

We are glad they got the 1.2htp over the 1.4 4cylinder engine that was available at the time.

Iv heard of many of these having excess bore wear at around the 70-80k mark.

My brother had a test drive in one not so long ago and said it seemed slower than mums polo, and what power it had you had to rev it really hard for.

The little HTP is pretty good i think. Not the fastest, but you dont have to rev it too much. Im happy with it anyway :).
