Oil on top of engine

Featured Replies

I've posted before but couldn't find it but on checking the car this morning 1.6crtdi oil is collecting near the injectors ? Where can this be coming from ? Surely no oil up there only where it enters the filler cap ? I thought it might have been some slopping over during filling but now I'm not to sure as I've cleaned it before ? Not so much this time but is there any way of it getting through the injectors ?

How's your oil cap looking? Is the oil forcing its way out through a failed seal on the bottom of it?

Looks fine ? Could it be I've wiped it away last time and as time goes by and heat just naturally runs down to the lowest point i.e the injector well

I think they are injectors 4 on top of the engine block first two closest to the oil filler are the worst so potentially it's coming from there ?

Hmm, when was the last time you put oil in? Have you spilled any recently?

I did have this on my Golf and traced it back to the seal on the underside of the oil cap. Over time it had come loose from the plastic which meant under pressure there was a fissure that the oil was forcing through. Its a cheap part to change and see otherwise it could be coming under the filler neck?

Deja Vu,

is this the same engine as you asked a similar thing about recently, after it was in for a service?

Yes George but I couldn't find that thread so I could resurrect it ! It's going to be parked up in Manchester for a time so I will take it in to dealer for inspection , wasn't a lot this time but I'm wondering if sparks has the answer sounds plausible and in one of the pics you can see oil line coming from the filler neck !

I can not find it either,

just the one where you asked which oil to top up with on 16th February.

So did you get the car back after a service, clean it up then, when you posted here,

and have you topped up since and spilt oil?

If you spill into the rubber catch ring and do not clean it up, it then works its way out.

How often do you have to top up.

I know its not funny,

but imagine how many would have a grin among Twincharger owners

if you with a Heavy oil engine had an Oil Burner as well.
