Urgent Help!!!!! Octy 4x4 (1.8T) Problem

Featured Replies

OK, here is the problem.

The wife took the car down to a local Skoda dealer to have the Coil packs changed on 4 cylinders. 1 went about 3 months ago and we pointed out to the dealer that the other 3 should be replaced as stated by Skoda... all well and good.

Wife turns up at my work after going down there and the car is having severe problems. It coughs, splutters and is not smooth at all. Something has gone very wrong. The dealer suspects Air Mass Flow meter.

First thing - they want to charge us

Warranty deffo.

That's what I thought

if they give you trouble get onto skoda uk and make noise. they should be getting this sorted for under warranty imho

Can you get someone to VAG-COM it? Maybe find someone to let you try their AFM?

Just had another read over the post - surely it would be one of the coil packs U/S. If thats all they've touched then it would be an unfortunate coincedence to bring on AFM problems?

Do you use an aftermarket filter, if so get it out sharpish if they are convinced it AFM and you want to claim.

I don't have any mods at all so no sweat about taking bits out.

After speaking to the CS advisor myself I have found out that the guy on the case is new and forgot to ask some fundamental questions (i.e. where did we buy it from).

Looking through the warranty (Elita) there is no question about it not being covered.

I think that it exhiting similar problem to the coil packs. May be bad luck but would have an even bet on incompotence...
