ABS light is on!

Featured Replies

On my drive to work the ABS, ASC and the car with skid line lights came on. Ive checked out the manual and it looks like ABS issues

Any ideas pointers people can give me?

I would get it scanned with VCDS. This should give you an indication of what is going on and its a good place to start

anyone in north wales have VCDS and enjoy a pint?? :hi:

The ABS sensors are cheap and easy to fit at least!

Just done one on an Astra. The price was about 4 X's what it would of been on the Octavia.

VAG sensors aren't that cheap imho ~£65.

But don't bother with the cheap ones. I got one from ECP (not that cheap) and it went FUBAR in 6 months

Could be wheel bearing they have magnetic ring on the back, which the sensors pick up if broken thats what comes on the dash like mine did. Mine was offside rear but get a scan saves unwanted costs mate.

If your car is an 06/07 or older that's probably more likely. I've had both my rears done recently. Needs a new hub unfortunatly since the ring is built into the hub and not replaceable on its own.

Same as the astra new hub bearing with built in sensor, nearly £150 fitted with a good discount too.

I think I was about £120 for the first then about £88 for the second. Price had come down for some reason in the 6 months between. That was for VAG parts. Indy said he'd cover labour for any fault in the 2yr they're under warranty just like the dealer.
