Featured Replies

Hi Guys,  Started my octy II 1.6 fsi  today and straight after pulling away, engine management  start to flash and then went on permanently,  car misfires, running like a tractor, lack of power, juddering,     so i just hooked it up to a laptop and two of them came on-

2 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
            P0300 - 001 -
16686 - Cylinder 2
            P0302 - 001 - Misfire Detected
Readiness: 0000 0000

Looked online and lots of topics about coil packs...     in this particular case would it be just the cylinder 2(coil on 2 ) or could it be more?

all shops closed so cannot pop in to store and get a new one today      is there anything i should be aware when changing them?   never had a chance to take any of them yet...  had an old polo before with one coil pack!

appreciate any info

Had a friend with a Vauxhall with similar symptoms.

Garage diagnosed misfire and replaced coil packs twice, each time clearing fault logged.

Problem remained and it was getting expensive so I added a bottle of Redex fuel cleaner and gave it an Italian tune up for 30miles.

Hasn't missed a beat since.

Could've been partly fouled spark plug, dirty injector, egr clogged etc.

Garages are too quick to jump to conclusions based on a diagnostic scan and need to do a bit more detective work before replacing parts at cost to the customers.
