Airbag light on dash

Featured Replies

Bought a Fabia with an airbag light on. Scanned it for faults under airbag and it won't communicate with the diagnostics at all.

Scanning under engine management I get the fault...

"P1636 Data Bus Powertrain: missing message from airbag control"

And under a different section, can't remember which one but I get this fault...

"Control unit for airbag-j234 no communication"

I removed the drivers airbag before to check incase it wasn't plugged in for whatever reason but all seems fine I guess.

Anyone?

The probable causes are:

  • SRS control module trouble codes stored,
  • Wiring
  • matching resistor in ecm

Before getting too far I would check the relevant fuses.

Also, have you searched for this error code on the 'net?

Thanks for that. I've checked the wiring to the drivers airbag but not the passenger side.

I'm guessing the airbag control module is built into the airbag itself?
