Suprised to find TDI 150 has a water cooled intercooler

Featured Replies

Had been wondering what the aluminium box was poking out from under the engine cover at the front, so decided today to have a look.

Surprised to find it was a water cooled inter-cooler which forms part of the air inlet manifold, akin to the set-up on our TSI Fabia. So the air-cooled rad as on previous Skoda TDI's is no more it seems with these new generation diesels.

Oh oddly the parts that make up the welded box have two or three varying date stamps, as if they are made by different manufactures before final assembly.

Very interesting picture thank you and nice to see under the engine cover of a TDi CR 150. One thing that does strike me, diesels look awfully complicated compared a TSi petrol engine now.
