DPF design knocked up in a garden shed?

Featured Replies

Been poking around the engine of our 150 and besides the surprise of a water cooled inter-cooler, the the design of the DPF is well weird. Parts books suggests it's both a catalyst and DPF combined but the flat box section connection between the two chambers surly cannot be efficient at clearing the exhaust gases; a fudge to squeeze it in to a given space maybe :wonder:

Photo's borrowed from a European ebay salvage add;

Smaller chamber connects to the turbo, side branch to the exhaust and the large opening is the EGR connection.

As long as it works better than the one on the MkII PD170 and as well as the one on the MkII facelift CR170 then all will be good!

Doesn't it include some sort of NOx filter too?
